Thanks Grim Reefer!

Following your recommendation; ditching Pure Atinics and going with 1st option.

I am not sure of the lamp configuration on that using so you may need to tweak this to get good dusk/dawn mix

Front

ATI Blue Plus
ATI Blue Plus
UVL Actinic White
ATI Blue Plus
GE 6500K Daylight
ATI Blue Plus
UVL Actinic white
ATI Aquablue
ATI Blue Plus
ATI Blue Plus

I am assuming the 4 outside lamps are dusk/dawn

do i need any red color? i do have a few clams that will be on the sand.

The 2 Actinic Whites will add red very nicely.

The Actinic White lamps are pinkish, red covered.

I currently use 3-Mh 250w and vho for some supplemental light and am considering switching the vho lamps out to the t5 lamps. I found the new UVI bulbs have the internal reflector like the vho bulbs do. Has anyone compared these bulbs against bulbs using the icecap reflectors? I have limited space and can either install 4x36 with internal reflectors or 2x36 with icecap reflectors.

Also, will I get much more output out of T5s versus the vho?

Anybody use those Aqua Science Bulbs ? Any 6 bulb combinations that would be good?

I guess not. :(

GRIM thx for your help... I'm very happy with my lights.

I havent had a chance to test for myself yet but from what I've heard you are still better off with an external reflector for the T5. Also the actinic T5's still don't match the VHO BUT if you are using an Ice Cap ballast you could run one 80 watt Blue Plus T5 with one VHO super actinic.

I responded a page or two back. Use 4 of their 22K Blues and a couple of the special 15Ks. The Duo lamp is just a combination of the two, no real reason to run it. This should give you a strong 14K halide look.

You want the metal caps at the end of the lamp to run around 115 degrees. If you are using moisture resistant endcaps there is no way to really measure the temp with a laser. You want the air temp in the area of the lamp around 95.

Is there any t5 bulb more yellow than the ge 6500k? It has to be the most yellow bulb I have ever seen.

Ron

The original GE daylight was more yellow. You should see the 3K Ge.

I was wanting to know how close would a 48" 54w over powered t5 set up to a 60" 80w t5 standard ballast set up would be. I have 2 250w 12k reeflux se set up now and instead of buying another 250w mh I was thinking of buy a 3 or 4 bulb t5 set up just not sure on over powered 48" or standard 60" ? what bulbs would do you think ? I was thinking ati 1 aqua blue , 2 blue plus and 1 pro color ? Not sure trying to get good growth and good color also. My tank is 62" long and my mh light set up is 59" now.

33L 2x54 hagen ballast ice cap reflectors ati blue+ and ati aquablue
can i keep any sps on that? "easier" SPS like birdsnest and monti caps?

I would confidently put birds nest, montipora, and perhaps even millepora in that with your light setup, o0jmadr0x0o

Do you have an accurate pic of what this bulb combo looks like over your tank?

Yeah, you need to use a 28 watt lamp in that fixture.

Thanks

I went out and purchased a 28 watt actinic bulb, and plugged it in, but this time with a kill-o-watt meter attached.

It drew 12 watts .. so is my fixture only rated for 12 watts, and my bulb is too high .. or everything is just fine and dandy ?

Thanks again
