Roger, on a tank 96l by 30hi by 48 wide...what size waves would you expect. Also would you run one or two units and is there a chance the running two would create a harmonic leading to a large wave crest?

96x48x30 comes out to about 600gal... You will need a Wavebox with Extension... I am having a take this size built and was thinking about waveboxes, I am going to hold off for now...

Yes, you would need an extension. I have no experience or feedback from tanks of this size, sorry. In a tank this size you can achieve a single or double wave, a double wave would be shorter.

what would be the frequency of the single wave, I would prefer to have a longer frequency if at all possible.

I understand that you dont have experience of this size, so Ill accept a best guess and understand its just speculative.

I wouldn't know. Even then for same tank size it varies with layout. It would be a relatively long frequency and doubling the speed would give you the double wave (crest in middle instead of on one end).

Hey guys,
HOLY MOLY!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is awesome! I have a 50 gallon tank guys that is 30x18x21.5 and it will be sumpless. I just purchased my lighting and a Deltec MCE600 hang on skimmer for the back!
Question: Will one Tunze wave box be too big for my tank?? Can I adjust the flow low enough for my size tank? This is the answer!!! No ugly powerheads in my tank!

It doesn't work at all on tanks smaller than 32" and barely works on tanks smaller than 48". Smaller than a 75 and it is kind of a waste of money.

Will this thing work on a tank that already has pumps on a timer?
Meaning I have 2 pumps with alternating current. The waves look awesome! It's a 280g btw

Their seems to be alot of confusion here, the wavebox IS NOT a flow solution in itself. It should be used with powerheads or a closed loop. It creates a non directional rocking motion that lifts and suspends debris but a directional current is required to move that debris for pickup by filters.

me and the wife are having another tank built by oceanic, 72x24x36

and i have been doing some checking on this wave box, because i was looking for a way to get rid of the powerheads if i could.

when i came across this thread, man you have got it together,

and been informative.

Not quite sure if i want to use a wave box yet, but at least now I really know more than i did on this subject

I am getting a Wavebox for my 240 as a Christmas present. I only have about 1" or so above my water line. The tank dimensions are 72"L x 24"W x 31"H, will the box create more than a 1" wave at the top? BTW I will be using it in conjunction with a 6060 and a 6080. Right now my flow comes from the 6060,6080,2-Seio 1500's,and 2-Seio 820's. I'm hoping by adding the Wavebox and eliminating the Seio's all together I will get much better flow, and save some$$ on the electric bill.

I borrowed a friend's wavebox to test in my 72BF. I was able to get about a 1" wave in the tank, but it does take up quite a bit of real estate. After starting it up, it kicked up alot of the detritus in the tank and after an hour or so the tank cleared up nicely. Please pardon the blurriness in parts of the video. How can I work in a auto top off in my sump with the wavebox ? My top off is hooked up to a Kalk reactor, So that means the top off switch will be controlling a pump to pump in kalk into the sump. Will my pump be cycling on and off as the wave dictates the flow down the overflow to the sump ? I have on an Lifereef Dual drain hang on box.

The water level in the sump should not fluctuate much more than how it normally would be from the water draining from the overflow box. It also depends on how your sump is built. Does it have baffles? IF your sump has baffles and you have a return area in the sump where your return pump sits, then I would place the float switch there. This should be the one zone of the sump where the water level will change.
