E-A-G-L-E-S,

I feel that there should be a time limit to the rebate offer. If there are not enough controllers IN STOCK to supply the demand during the alloted time frame, the offer should be extended.

This is just another way for those who are not comfortable putting the cash down up front can wait until the controllers are in stock to order.

I also feel that everyone who purchased the unit before the controller is available with the pump should have the opertunity to buy at the rebate price.

Fliger,

In the last paragraph of the original post Tim states "We will answer the most pertinent questions involving the upgrade process itself as quickly as possible however we will not be able to answer as effectively specific details about the functionality of the driver."

You are entitled to your opinion as I was just giving mine. I thought that since there is a limited supply that current owners being given a first crack wasn't the worst idea.
It just seems to me there were an aweful lot of people that banged on Vortech while owners put their trust and money in Eco and now that they have a controller coming out the complainers want same preferential treatment.

But it's absolutely no big deal to me, just want to clarify that.
Everyone that wants one will in a short time period have one and that's what matters :)

How long do you estimate this offer is valid for? My tank is currently broken down while we moved so my need is not as urgent as others.

See the thread on the AS forum. They explain the higher shipping is to offset handling and processing costs.

Shipping is high because we're all paying a "handling" fee. Aquarium Specialty has upped the shipping to cover their end.

One thing I would like to know. If it is shipped by Fedex ground will also have to pay duty AND taxes on the order total of $200 (I need two drivers). I'm just afraid of being hosed when my package comes over the border.

Yeah and to be honest that's my biggest gripe. Not the shipping. We're told that product is limited, and this is a short window - and possibly that when the first run is out, we will not get the rebate. So you feel forced to make the purchase ASAP. Yet limited specific details of functionality. THAT ... 1) makes me feel uncomfortable spending money on a product that we can get limited specifics ... 2) makes me wonder if all the bugs are worked out, i.e., do they not KNOW the functionality or do they not want to share it ... 3) based on number two I believe its slightly unethical. When I got the 7095 after the 7094, I knew exactly what I was getting before I hit "Complete This Transaction".

I'm sure it will be a great product and the price seems fair. But the timing of it all isn't right, IMO. The product info should have been out for us in time to evaluate and make a decision. Instead it all came with one post and most of us felt the need to jump so we wouldn't miss the rebate, or the product itself.

Business and marketing I know very well, and I would not have handled it this way. All that being said, I bought two VT's and two drivers since I think this will be a good product and I got some good recommendations. :)

Well, shipping prices just dropped some. It is now 15 bucks for me compared to 25 for 2. Still high but what are you going to do. In the long run, I guess we save.

Well that's just great. Shipping is now $15 and I paid $25 yesterday.

Sept 1st the ship date from us. We don't have the product yet but Ecotech said it would be ready by then (actually Sept 3rd) since the 1st is a Saturday as someone pointed out. If there are any delays I'm sure Ecotech Marine will let us/you know.

steve414,
I think that would be true. We are getting 50 dollars toward our current driver and the warranty should be extended. I bought mine after that statement so I would imagine they would stand by it. They have been a pretty stand up company so far.

Email him. Or cancel your order and redo it :)

Don't want to cancel and lose my spot :) I sent an email instead.

I had two problems with my vortech and Ecotech would get back to me right away and they would replace the parts for free I no that this company would back us up %100 if something were to happen.

Definately need more detail.

Many of us have the Vortec running at its lowest speed to keep from sand-storming.

How will this new controller cycle?

Will you be able to cycle from zero (or near zero) up to what is now the minimum?

Or will it only cycle from the current minimum and upward ?

I do not yet own a vortech but am considering one. As for the wireless controler I take it you need one for each pump you own?
Are those that own this pump happy with them? Just curious this wireless system seems very interesting.

I have no vortechs yet, but I'm wondering if I should just buy them now, and get the upgrade, or if they will come out with the upgrade already sometime down the line? I'd rather not go through the whole process if they already come prepackaged with the new driver.
