Dang, my shipping was $32 so I didn't go through with it. Isn't that kinda high for two small items?

Edit - decided to pay the extra shipping because I really don't have an option - not exactly that happy about it though. The $32 for shipping and the return shipping will probably equal one of my rebates!

Nevertheless, thanks Ecotech - I was talking to Jesse at Elos and he talked me into getting these, said you guys are really awesome.

Yeah. Unless they can be shipped by USPS I'm going to regrettably bow out of this offer. I'm not too happy about this right now.

Aquaduck...you should post your shipping concerns on their forum(A.S.), maybe they'll help then.

Hmmm... I didn't know they had a forum. I'll give it a shot.

Tim,

Providing the number of units that will be available is not that big of a deal. Even a range like 20-50 units would help. I understand if you put a low number on it, you think it may hurt sales in the beginning, but I think being forth coming and honest about your ability to deliver the product will ultimately drive up sales in the end. If you leave this vague, and a bunch of people pay their money up front just to wait months to get their product you will loose customers.

If you allow people to pre-order and pay when the product ships, then there is no reason for people to ask the questions you do not want to answer. When tunzes came out with their latest 60xx series they revield how many units they expected on what date and it did not hurt the sales of those units. I would even suggest that the limited quantities they posted drove up sales.

Here we are 12 business days from the announced shipping date of the product and all we have is the word of a company with a poor history of delivering on that word and a "rendering" of the product and not even a photo of the actual product. I hope you can understand my skepticism and questions. Bit me once, shame on you. Bite me twice, shame on me.

Two questions you still have not addressed are..

1. If I wait till your production catches up with back orders, so that I can order when they are in stock, will I still get the upgrade deal?

2. Are you still giving the one year warranty extension as promised?

Looks like the shipping calculator is going by product value rather than weighht, but it could also be an insurance thing. I thought Tim said the return would be via USPS right?

They are 1 1/2 hours from me and it's $26 to ship it ground. If they were a bit closer I would just drive there and pick them up.

Tim,

Thank you for providing an announcement. I'm very excited about the new wireless capabilities. Don't think your efforts are going unnoticed! I look forward to enjoying the new features!

Its $16.82 for ground to me at 36830 for two of the controllers.

I guess using Fedex means that the parcels will be traceable and insured, but I'm just guessing.

Yeah...$35 shipping for ground for me for 3 units. Seems way high to me. Especially given that we are footing the bill to ship them back.

Definitely not happy that they are charging the cards when the order is placed instead of waiting until they ship. I really want the upgrades, but high shipping costs and poor e-commerce practices will make me reluctant to order from AS again.

Well guys, it's one of those things. When I get marine orders to be shipped, I get payment up front and do NOT ship until the card clears. I don't charge way in advance either, but imagine at the volume they do, how much AS must get in fraudulent charges. I can understand why they are doing it that way in this case.

I had a new "customer" email for a quote on some engine parts, and then I got a computer relay call from he same person asking for pricing. It was difficult to deal with as the call took forever and she had already emailed me. I also noticed that her company had a Chicago address but a Seattle prefix on the phone number which perked up the hairs on my neck.

When I discussed the items with my supplier, I told him that it was a ew customer and he asked me a couple of pointed questions, and we came to the conclusion that it was a fraudulent inquiry trying to use a stolen credit card. There's so much thievery in online business that I am sure AS is just trying to not get burned.

Maybe so, but for a pre-order they really should state up front that they will charge the card immediately to inform their customers. Then again, I haven't seen an official response from them, so perhaps we are jumping the gun on this.

In any event, the shipping cost still seems high. It's not like they are shipping the heavy magnet portions of the pumps...just the drivers.

OK. Here's a question for someone. The Vortech units are now selling with the current driver. Say we all get the updated driver on Sept 1 or around that time. Will later production runs come with updated Wireless driver or will that be some type of "add-on" package. The idea behind the updated driver is to allow you to control multiple units? Just trying to figure out what is the benefit of ordering a Vortech unit now as opposed to waiting until Jan-08 or later (besides the apparent backlog created from todays announcement).

Thanks

I think they said the base model will remain the same price whereas you can add the new driver for $100

There are thousands of online companies out there. Name one that charges your card 17 days before they ship! All but one I know of charge you when they are ready to ship. Yet all are exposed to the same risk. It is just not good business practice.

I really do not have a problem paying up front if I know that on Sep 1st, well actually Sep. 3rd as the 1st is on a Saturday, my product will ship. Problem is you have no guarantee it will ship then or when it will ship and this company has a long history of being slow to make good on promised deadlines.

Remember that with most CC companies you only have 30 days to make a claim if you do not get your driver. 17 to 19 of which you know you will not have it even if you are the first to get your driver.

Again if they change the practice of charging up front for an unknown delivery date the no worries.
