The Wireless Wave Driver is Coming

My shipping total was $64 for 3!!! No way am I paying that for 3 small drivers. I know how much it costs to send Fedex since I did it a couple times with burnt out drivers to the East Coast. And it's not $64!!! Sorry I will wait for an explanation on this before I order.

If that is the case, then we're paying $100 + shipping for a unit that will cost $10+ dollars in a couple months as a "add-on". Not that I have a problem with that - supply and demand - I get it.

Yea shipping for 2 is 20 dollars. Kind of surprised considering the size. Overnight is over a hundred dollars. It seems that there is either miscalculation or some serious padding. I ship fedex all the time and I've overnighted a big box weighing over 10 pounds and it was no where near 100 dollars. Maybe we can use our own account number? It would be nice if Ecotech would use a second vendor or ask this vendor to be at least decent on the shipping or add a USPS option.

I have a feeling the website if doing an automatic shipping rate based on distance and dollar amount, rather than size and weight. Perhaps Aquarium Specialties will make some type of adjustment on the site or issue partial refunds on excess shipping. We won't know until they say what's what.

I see some people picked the ground option. I don't see that come up for me as an option. Lowest cost is home delivery?!?

Demeter,

I think the $10 dollar add on is when you buy a new vortech pump with the wireless controller.

For everyone complaining....

I always shy away from telling people what to do or what not to do but if you have a problem with credit cards being charged early, shipping expenses, etc. etc. it is pointless to gripe about it here.

Wait until the morning and call Aquarium Specialty or Icecap and get the information from the source. I have called and emailed Aquarium Specialty and Icecap about various things and I have always been able to get a response in a timely manner.

Lets be Happy !!!

Lets be Happy !!!

I think it's kinda funny that everyone was begging them to release the controller and then they basically make it available to us first by posting on RC and then everyone starts complaining. I shipped 3 from SC to FL for 26.00 . Thats really not so horrible when you think we already paid about a grand for the pumps anyways. Lets be thankful we have first dibs and ecotechs customer service is top notch!

If you got the $10 figure from my previous post I apologize. That's what I get for replying from an iPhone. I read $100 additional will be added.

No problem. I'm not really concerned with the price (yeah right!) of the updated driver. I'm just wondering what the options are/will be for this product line after the wireless unit is released. What I've been able to read so far is MSRP for the Votrch unit is $345 + $100 for the wireless driver, minus the $50 dollar rebate.

That's what they call irony. You can't please everyone all the time :(

can we order new vortech's that already have this integrated? I will be ordering a pair soon, but I'd rather them to already come with the new driver rather than going through the rebate process etc.

Keep in mind that a lot of manufacturer's are going to a JIT (just in time) manufacturing process. This allows them to keep down expenses by not having excess inventory just hanging out in their warehouse, parts needed are ordered based on need which requires money put up. I would not be wise for a business using this model to basically trust that an individual won't cancel their order a few day's later, since they pay the vendors as they provide requested part's, they are now left hoping additional orders will bale them out. It's business 101, I would love to hear what ya'll would suggest they do.

Cheers!

afraid I am waiting too

afraid I am waiting too

The economy is tough here in Michigan right now very tough and ordering the driver and being charged and not knowing when something will be shipped and not knowing when I will get the $50 back very tough, Also as a customer of Ecotech and Aquarium specialty I am a little upset that I have to get in line with everybody else just doesn't seem quite fair. I know this might sound selfish but I know this will be a huge endeavor and it just seems like it will be a long time before I see my driver or my $50 bucks which originally I thought was going to be $50 for the whole thing. just passed on the past experience I can't afford it at the moment!

Your post confuses me. We're all customers of EcoTech Marine and, if you buy the controller, Aquatic Specialties as well. What entitles you to preferential treatment?

Also, if the economy is tough why are you spending money on high-dollar luxury items?

I feel the tough times statement, but like RM said, why should you not have to get in line with the other customers?
Or did you mean with people just buying the vortech now?
That I would agree with, existing customers should have first dibs.

bimmerzs,

In my business 101 class the first three rules were:

1. Business is inherently risky.
2. There are no guarantees.
3. When it comes to money, rules one and two have no exceptions.

steve414,

I agree it is about the controller, the economy of the controller. LOL

This is my first experience with Ecotech, but not my first with Scott at AS. I've been buying products from him when they first opened - and they are totally standup, honest guys who bring in a LOT of high end/early adopter products. I'm more worried about delays than I am the shipping cost - I have no problem with charging my card, I can think of plenty of business that do that. I just hope there aren't production delays and that the dates don't slip. I waited a long time to try the Vortechs and hopefully the experience will be a good one!

I'm glad I bought early though, in case they do run out. I realized that I just got two wireless driver/controllers for $50+$50+$40 shipping - not a bad purchase for $140. I just hope I ordered early enough.

Now I want to hear more explanation of the features! I plan on adding three to my 210G, its 64L x 32W x 24T. I also will keep my 6100 on a Waveysea for random sweeping motions. What modes might work best - my tank is mostly SPS with some LPS like micros, acans, dendros/etc.
