There was an itsey bitsy teeny.... Bandit

So I'm a little nervous and a little scared tonight.

I've had my LFS looking for my second fish on my bucket list a bandit angel preferable 2 inches or under.

Well this weekend they contacted me and said that their wholesaler had located one that was an inch. Well the little lady arrived today.

It's barely an inch if an inch. Tonight it was eating cyclopeez and picking at the rock so in my mind that's a good thing.

But I'm still terrified because of how small she is. Hopefully she'll grow up quickly.

Enjoy I've wanted one and my Conspic for awhile.

So I may get flamed but do some circumstances I took a calculated gamble with this fish.

So she is currently in my DT.

I only found out on Sunday that she was available. So not a lot of time to set up a Qt. This was not the primary reason for skipping Qt.

The primary reason in my mind was I didn't have any properly aged live rock that I could obtain to put in my Qt.

So more of a food issue. I've raised three other angels of this size in similar fashion. Frozen is used more as a supplement to the natural food on the live rock.

So it is what it is. One of my main concerns in doing this was any aggression. As of last night the only aggression was from her. Everyone else was 'is this a fish'. In addition she was relaxed enough pick at the rock.

Oh well hopefully I made the correct decision. If she was a inch or maybe even a half an inch bigger I would have Qt.

A larger tank, which I'm working on. The Conspic is doing awesome.

Angels so far are:

1. Conspic
2. Juvenile Bandut
3. Pair of Joculators
4. Juvenile yellow belly Regal
5. Juvenile Blue line
6. Multibar

On the list:
7. Pair of Goldens
8. Venustus
9. Tigerpyge

I think that should cure my angel addiction for the time being 😉

so cute, they are great at that size!
and if you have never seen one that size, they are almost different fish from larger bandits and it is impossible not to stare at and be fascinated by them...one of my very fav fish...
feed her constantly, 7-10 times a day, your track ;) record is great, she will be fine.
loving your fish, well done!
think I have a tiger pair coming next week...

Okay for an update.

I'm slightly worried but today she is acting like my other small juvenile angels have in the past.

Thursday (when I got her) she was out and about. Yesterday evening she was held up on a little cave and maybe three or four inches away.

Today she is acting like she did on Thursday cruising appearing to be picking on live rock..

Everyone is ignoring her though so that's a good thing.

Fingers crossed.

Yes today out bumming around and picking at rock.

I hate to say it but she is acting like a couple of the other tiny angels I've had.

So hopefully this is a good sign. I'm thinking my decision/ gut feeling to put her in my current DT was a good idea.

Only worry now is that she keeps swimming up to larger fish and nipping them. It's almost like she is being a cleaner wrasse and it appears that they are accepting it that way. It's quite hilarious, when their tail is almost larger than her.

So hopefully all is good 😊

A lot of baby Angels act in that manner. It seems like it is a fairly common practice. I wonder if it's a social acclimation type of thing. Lowest on the totem pull cleans. Chimps and lots of higher intelligence species do it as well
