Thinking of selling it all, what should i do

I say at least try it for a few months after the baby comes. I started setting up my first saltwater tank about 2 months after my daughter was born, and I've managed to get it running. There is usually a little bit of time after they go to sleep or when my wife is playing with her, to get in time to clean/feed the tank. A little time here and a little there starts to add up.

Btw, you have a really awesome tank! I can only hope to get there one day

That is a beautiful setup.

I do hope you keep it. Even if you slack off just a bit on the maintenance, a tank with a bit of algae on the front glass is better than no tank at all:)!

I have to admit, the tank is pretty automated besides feeding, regular cleaning and water changes. Which reminds me, this is the longest i've gone with out a water change (7 weeks) and just noticed i have to salt. Guess i'll go buy a 200 gallon box of salt tommorrow, a bunch of food, so i guess i'm here to stay! Its really sad, i used to go to my LFS 3-4 times a week to see what's new or just to talk and have a coffee. Now I haven't been there in almost 2 months. Maybe that's also part of the problem, maybe a have to get back into the groove of being more involve with it and have some ME time. Once again, thanks for all the support and compliments about the tank. When i first started (which is only about 18 months ago) I would have loved to have a tank like mine, now that i have one, I 'm thinking of getting rid of it? SOMEONE GIVE ME A GOOD SMACK!!!!!!!!

BTW sorry about the bad pics i posted. They were just some i already had in photobucket and didn't feel like uploading nicer ones at the time. Color and focus is just horrible, lol

I regret selling off my 75 gal Reef due to new addition to the family.I just got back into it about 10 months ago on a much smaller scale. You have an amazing set up there and if were you I would stick it out,I think you would end up regreting it.Hang in there.

Glad you are deciding to keep it, but i will play devils advocate here for a quick second.

Ahem... Once again, only you can decide if it is too much for you. I for one would not push someone into doing something that they do not feel right doing. If the tank is just overwhelming you, let her go for now. Life does not always give us all the time we want or need. If it comes down to it, sell of the fish and corals and store the equipment away, start with that. Sell off anything that would not be used in your new planned setup. Now you will only have what you need for your new setup and have all the old junk gone when you are ready.

Having a new baby, as you already know, is going to bring emotional ups and downs (first tooth, unexpected doctor visits ...etc) that come with a newborn and from EVERYONE involved. It is going to tax you a bit and will be a learning curve for you for sure (now there is two of them to juggle). Will probably overwhelm you a bit and make you think you dont have time for the tank, but, like said, there is always a little time to sneak in there and do a few things to the tank. If not, shut her down until you pick up on that learning curve I mentioned. You ever hear all them stories about the first one that comes along and every bell and whistle goes off, then, when the second one comes, its like hey, where's the baby, havnt seen her/him in 5 days  .

I would not worry about getting back to the fish store on a daily bases, you dont really need to. Take it slow for now. Get only the items you need and get outta there. Who knows, you may find you have another direction in life, but, till then, keep a little time and a peice of this world for yourself, for now.

Sensei says "learn that family balance and life will show you the road you want to take". :)

For everyone who has replied with comments, suggestion and support, i would like to thank you all for convincing me to stick it out and stay in the hobby. I actually did some serious tank maintenance today as well (rained all day so took the day off and it couldn't had come at a better time, itys almost like it rained for a reason , lol). I cleaned all glass, sump, pumps, skimmer, complete water testing, carbon change and went and got a bucket of salt and making the water as we speak for a well needed water change. I'm only going to do 10% water change once a week for the next 4 weeks tehn every other week after that. hope everthing i did today won't be too much of a shock to the system, lol. I was pleasently surprized to see my water params were on point even after not checking it much in the last 2 momths. Goes to show, maybe my tank is more automated than i thought and maybe before i was just spending too much time on it. thanks later
