I don't know all the logistics for the entire process, but as long as they're not illegal to collect I don't think you need a license to actually collect them. But I think you need a license to import/export and sell the fish.

However I know for a fact that the license process is much easier compared to the skills, knowledge, logistics and brass balls needed to collect these deepwater fish!

Very cool! I ask because there's a few folks on here with very rare fish (humaguy) and I just recently learned of the name Rufus (who I assume is very well known in the rare fish trade/collections), so there must be some amazing connections going on.

When I saw that article about those rare white angel fish and how much they cost I'm thinking we have very wealthy members here to drop $15-30k on FISH. So here I see your pictures with awesome fish and what appears to be a peppermint angel, I'm thinking these hobbyists are super rich or have awesome, generous friends! Congrats on some cool fish!

All relative my friend. Yes some people have more disposable incomes then others(not necessarily me), but we each have our vices.
I'd prefer to spend $500-1000 on a few fish in my tank and than go out to dinners and buy alcohol all the time. I have a lower overhead townhome, and cheaper bills so I can get away with saving some extra money to spend on my tank. Besides its my only hobby other than adult league baseball
