~~ Thread of the Month ~~ Ghetto Tanks!

:D Key words: hiding it in the basement. :D You're right, it's one big science experiment not meant to look pretty (the corals are pretty)

That stand setup lets me mount all lighting off the high backs of the stands or suspended from the frame and nothing is permanent and can be completely changed out or removed in minutes. All ballasts and powerstrips are wall mounted, or above the tanks and wires have drip loops, and since the endcap fire, all VHO's have soldered pins.

I am in awe that wonrib noticed that the tops of all my tanks are roughly the same height. That is the most comfortable level for me to reach into them. It's all about me, me, me! :D

hey PRC, what kind of skimmer do you think fills that gross milk jug out in the floor? Yup a berlin :D (except mine works awesome)
However, I am kind of coveting that 5gal jug skimmer. That thing is priceless. If I had one of those I probably could get a 7 out of 5 rating.

I'm glad my critters don't have any pride. Corals commiting hari-kari probably isn't a pretty sight.

And now I'll probably have to retire from RC.........................:D
 
I want to post a pic or two of my 6gallon Eclipse Reed I had setup.. Can someone post them if I email them? I have a few on my work computer I just realized.
 
I want somemore details on that fine 5g skimmer:)
Who ever made that has to be the biggest penny pincher, or smartest person alive.

Even if it saved me $300 I still couldn't bring myself to useing it on my display tank,LOL.

Hehe, I can't wait to post my pics. Hopefully some time this weekend. I finished my DIY moonlights and right now the wires are all over the place, I still have to post the pics of my drain line. HEHEHEHE

Wow... this is an awesome thread :D I can't wait to post some of my own pictures now... There is a big clamp on the top of my tank to hold it together (center brace broke) and the canopy is G-H-E-T-T-O (dumpster style)

Good thing I'm picking up my new 90 tomorrow :D
 
I like the first ghetto canopy. It has a shriveled up PBT sticker for a finishing touch. Frick's setup is beyond words. I think I saw his setup before between Bartertown and Thunder Dome.
 
I could feel pretty at home hanging out with you guys, especially soltaker.

Also, the stand hood is "Brilliant".

Maybe we could get William Hung to sing the "Ghetto reefer" theme song.
