cheeto,

That's OK ... but, to me, that looks more like the mess o' wires people ram into that space between the stand and the wall.

Or, at least, I do.

Oh. Damn.

My tank's ghetto to ;)

lol Cannonball888 I have that same screensaver minus the cool ghetto background :)

Reading this thread gave me some great ideas... Ghetto or no ghetto, if it works, go for it. Thankks to everyone who posted :)

......Just leave your wifes' tupperware alone;) They get kind of POed messing with there containers:lol:

My first set up was pretty ghetto. I had my tank sitting on a file cabinet and I used plant bulbs hung with fishing line from the ceiling for lighting. It then graduated to a 2x4 stand. Oh i wish i had pics.

I wish I had pics of my first salt tank. It was a thiry gallon show with plastic plants and interlocking pennplax rocks. It stand was a cheap particle board and glass coffee table. It bowed in the middle big time. The salt also ate away the veneer.

Ok I finally figured out how to post pics here's some of my eclipse 6 nano I setup until I was able to get my big tanks to my new apartment..This is ghetto by my standards since i didn't have a hood but luckily there's no wiring danger issues or anything so it's not entirely ghetto it's since been taken down and now I just have a new 90g up and running..
first is the tank next is the loa 65w above it mounted to a corner shelf

I once made a protein skimmer out of something similar to this

141291_sk_md.jpg

it was 4" sq, 24" high, I had to glue one one side of it, along with top and bottom, looked real funky, but did the job. it was counter current with 2 wood airstones. did this about 15 years ago, when skimmers were almost as hard as $$ to come by

well I wanted to participate but after reading this thread I really don't feel so worthy of the ghetto title -- most of you all have me beat -- I am building a new hood and stand as we speak but till then I am rolling ugly -- My favorite is the 3' skimmer off to the side -- I am planning on a EAP euro (more ghetto) for in the stand of the new unit -- my wife really likes the idea of loosing the current skimmer :) -- so do I really -- the friggin doors on this stand don't even close anymore and the hood is all warped up-- totally a p.o.s.

well am I ghetto?
