Tips and Tricks on Creating Amazing Aquascapes

This may not be what you are looking for, but is the tank level? Looks like the water is higher in the back.

Rock work however look fine.

Nice looking tank, BCool. I like the way you narrowed the back of the channel to create the effect of greater distance. Well done.

I've been following along for a while. Here is my setup, which finally finished yesterday.

I am currently setting up a new 150 gallon tank. Need critique and suggestions on my scape. Below is my first try. This is going to be a SPS dominated tank.

Okay so i would love some help here.

First pic was my first attempt = lump of rocks

Second attempt = overcrowded

Third = closer to what i want...more sand shown and less rock but no height!

Fourth is our current setup and its still missing something. Still looks too lumpy and thrown together.

Help? I have lots of dry rock at my disposal right now but would like to work with those three pieces. Definitely going to be giving away the mussel and the rock its on to open up more sand. Probably will spread out/take out the hermit crab shells too.

Hey everybody. For those of you who are re-doing your scaping... how difficult is it to do when you have livestock in the tank to deal with? I am going to make a go of this soon and wondered if any of you had any tips or cautions before I start. My plan is to get a very good idea sketched out of the overall shape. I know I'll be improvising on the spot in lots of ways because of the fact that I can really only see the overall shapes of about 50% of my rock as it sits in the tank right now. So the sketch is just a "here's hoping" kind of deal. I'll do a good size water change and fill a couple of barrels with the water removed. Leave the fish in the tank, remove the rock and place it in the holding barrels. Then get to it. Planning on using rods, zip ties, epoxy and super glue. Any thoughts on how long the rock can be out of the water? Some will have corals attached. For the rods use a masonary bit, no hammer drill, right?
I don't want to rush through it if I can help it. I guess I can think of it as a tank move in a way. Reassurances welcome.

I think it depends on the coral as to how it will react being out of water. Rock by itself can be out for at least an hour...people get it shipped to them in wet paper towels, you know?
