I would love opinions on where to take my aqua scapingCurrently my tech 120 4x2 is a work in progress. I would prefer some more natural aqua scape but maintain lots of swimming area. Currently im thinking mixed reef for the tank, zoa's, frogspawn, hammer, star polyp etc... maybe 1-5 sps in like a year or so???
The current formations are for the most part boring rock piles, they do provide lots of hiding and void areas for safe slumber so im happy with that and for the most part would like to keep it the same just work off of it.. Thinking archway is in order...

Thanks guys :bounce3:
pull the rock from the corners on the glass or you'll never be able to clean the glass in those areas. If you look at many of the previous posters in their "builds" they use a cardboard template for the footprint. I say take an extra 3 inches off the footprint all the way around so you can clean your glass. In your case, I would build against the overflow box.....if you can put together a solid base thats offcenter, build up and back so only the top layer of rock is touching the overflow.....this allows room for the fish to swim as well better water flow, and if it is offcenter you have your thirds rule coming into play. I like shelves in rockwork as it allows more real estate for corals, encrusting and branching. I would reccomend a shelf starting a third the way up from the bottom then layer back then a shelf, then layer back....If you could try this with the idea to look (very rough) like a stretched or pulled cone, you may end up with more desirable scape....but surely one you can see as you should be able to clean ALL the glass.
Good luck....I hope I didnt get too wordy.
