Tips and Tricks on Creating Amazing Aquascapes

Hi,
I have a preliminary mock up of my 240g.I like the look but I'm looking for some constructive criticism

It looks great. Only thing i would suggest is adding a little bit more height to the right side. I would also say the shelving on the corner needs to go. You could always add shelving to the main rockwork. In the end it is your tank though, so do what you think you would enjoy.

After many attempts moving things around, this is it I hope lol. I will take any input.

Here is my plan for my 5'x2'x2' tank. It is a peninsula, so I want it to have an interesting view from either side. The idea was to have a valley at an angle to create depth while still maintaining negative space. The two foam blocks represent a couple SPS covered rocks from my previous tank that I will be moving over. The tape measure shows the length.

I'd love to hear any suggestions or comments.

Well first of all there is no right or wrong this is more of an art. Suggestions break rock up into 3 or 4 sections instead of just one big piece. Have rocks at different heights. Have some rock in the foreground also put some taller rocks in the foreground ( taller then rocks in the background. At the end of the day it's what you are happy with.

I would widen the trench. Maybe angle one of the islands. You could also make one of the island cove like.

So I'm starting my aquascape ,, little by little ,, I bought 40 lbs for my 90 to start with and I crushed it all up into softball size rubble and smaller I left a few of them bigger ,, I made the mistake of buying some tonga shelves ,, I couldn't believe the amount of organically on them,, any way , I decided not to use the shelves, but I went a bought a diamond blade for my sawzall ,, I can cut some pretty cool reef saver rock shelves that match my rock pretty well ,,, here's a teaser more to come

Hi all.

This is my Aqua Reef 400 (first 2 photos) and my Mini Reef 90 (3rd photo)

Please let me know what you think.

Here's what I came up with in my BC32 LED (only 4 days old). In the experienced folks' opinion, is it a good idea to use epoxy/putty to hold them in place? Or does just stacking them suffice?

Help!!! Lol

I just received a 20lb 21lx 9w x 2" thick tonga shelf (no base) and now I'm stumped how to scape it.
I also have 2 big 12 lb 9x12 x7 inch boulders that I could use as islands, and assorted smaller pukani.

Any tips on how I can merge the 3 big pieces to give me a floating shelf? I saw (and can no longer find) a thread where someone used a square base made of pvc and run a threaded rod upwards to make some towers. I guess I could do a pvc base the same size as the shelf directly underneath but under the sand to act as a foot. Then put one of the boulders at one end, attached to the base with fiberglass rods and epoxy, glue and zip tie the shelf to it?

Think that would work?
