Tips and Tricks on Creating Amazing Aquascapes

Repost, first link not working.

I am loving this thread and getting tons of ideas for when my tank arrives. I'm still not sure what to do about the back glass? Paint it black, blue, leave it clear? What do most people do and why? My tank is a bowfront 72 gallon reef ready so virtually everything plumbing wise will be under the tank, I'm planning on running the power cords for my lights and powerheads either down the rear corners or running them along the top and down behind the overflow. My LFS has a guy that tints the back glass, I like the idea of going that route if I decide to not leave it clear only because I can always remove it. Any tips or suggestions?

I prefer to have a black background because it provides good contrast to the rock and coral making it pop that much more

How do you guys propose having a black background and maintaining the ability to clean it? Do you put a black sheet on the outside of the tank so any algae/coralline can be cleaned directly off of the glass?

I'm pretty sure whatever method you use to make the glass black is always done on the outside of the tank, the two most popular methods of doing his is spray painting with krylon fusion or using window tint which is basically a giant black sheet with adhesive on one side

So I've done my best to follow the rules and construct an aquascape. It was way harder than I had expected! I'd love some advice on how to make the tank 'look' deeper as it's a very shallow tank and any other advice that would be helpful. I hope to not have to change all that much as it did not go together very easily and the rocks are sitting pretty solid now. Also, ideas on corals? Ive had a SW tank for about 8 years but am just getting into corals (have done some lps). I have AI lighting if that helps. TIA.

Can someone give some feedback on my aquascape? I am about to redo it, to get some of the rocks out.

my idea is to lower the height a bit over all, the left side needs to be way lover, and moved in to the back of the glass to add more dept to the view.

the big center rock, should be made lower, and move more back.

then i want more free space on the right, more sand.

I always like the look of two separate piles with a channel to give depth
different size stacks and channel going at angle .

Thanks for the ideas all. I'm still debating for my dream tank whether or not I want to have a peninsula separating two rooms or a wall. Either case I want to have two different piles, one more with monti shelves and SPS and the other more for Softies and LPS

REALLY difficult to translate into the water from cardboard.

How'd I do? Tank is 60 x 27 x 27, and I feel I'm struggling to capture and maximize the depth.
