Today's meet

Had a great time, glad I could make it even though it was short. Lots of faces both old and new.

I will get a shot of the red with blue tips mother colony when I get home from work today.

That turned out to be a fantastic meet. Not only was the weather great (amazing luck there!) but with such a good turnout there were lots of corals to raffle and a few new faces to welcome to the group.

Yes I got one of those clams. I'm excited. It's the first clam I've ever had. I welcome any tips experienced clam keepers would like to share.

Not to rub it in but here's a pic of 'clammie' (just kidding about the name - I really never name my aquarium residents):

How do I post

Seems like you just did! :wavehand:

RC has rules about how many posts you need before you can use advanced features. One good way to increase your post count is to tell us about yourself and your tank(s). Probably best to start a new thread for that if you can.

Were you at the meet yesterday?

Glad you got one of the clams John can't wait to see the colors after it gets a custom to the sol leds. I have a feeling it will be your wife's new favorite once those colors pop and the cool patterns show

I forgot to say thank you to fish pros...i really liked that lfs...they had fish I never knew existed and also had octopus eggs brewing...might go back up there in a couple weeks and grab some fish...

All the stuff looked great. Even the sps I got have awesome polyp extension, which surprises me a lot lol!!

Anyone know who brought the birdsnest that wasn't the oar green? I got it and am looking for some more details about what exactly it is.

had octopus eggs brewing

Hmm. Missed those. In the wild, and in the tank I had at the time, the female octopus guards the eggs after spawning and doesn't eat the entire time. After the fry hatch, she dies. Without constant care and circulation, the eggs will fungusize.

Having had 2, I also feel octopus make terrible tank residents. They are highly intelligent, curious and escape prone. Watching them hunt and engulf their prey is awesome.

Yes the guy told me she died...He said they weren't going to be for sale if he was able to keep them alive, it was really his own little project

hey Reeferitis I was the guy you talked to.
YEP on the octopus eggs unfortunately the female did die before the eggs hatch so they are under artificial aeration. i have to agree not the best tank resident by far but the fascination of them keeps them importing to LFS. I'm also glad the clams went to good hands.

for those who read this and dont know. I was at the meeting but not there for it lol I was working. hence the name ptownFRO. if you recognized me.

Hey ptownfro guess what? I put the sexy shrimp in my tank after drip and temp acclimation and a few hours later I see this huge bristle worm pulling the dead body under the rocks.

Ptownfro glad to put a face to the name it was nice to meet you...I'll be back to see how they're doing and pick up a couple things...good luck to you
