Pretty soon a couple of my coloies are going to break the surface of the water(will they?). And a chalice is soon going to be touching the front and back glass. Im not sure what to expect. Will the growth stop or start to turn downwards? or will those branches stop and growth start lower on the stalk? Im starting to think I should have done some prunning(bonsai) while they were growing and should I start doing that now with the ones just starting out? Do we take a frag off, then donate the colony to a lfs display tank?

I would like to see pics! A chalice touching front and back glass? Is this one monster of a chalice or two

The guy I go my Hollywood stunner from had his going in the glass. When it hits it will go up and attach to the glass. It's best to prevent this from happening as I watched him have one heck of a time with a razor blade getting it off. It broke into small non fragable segments and was a waste.

Im not sure if its a chalice or not but the Hollywood stunner is exactly what Im asking about. the other are a purple stylo and green birdsnest which are as low in the tank as they can get.

I had a pocci that was growing to the water surface. Obviously it can't grow out, so all the lateral branches just kept growing and formed a flat top,LOL! Looked strange for sure.....

My green slimer before I upgraded to the new system. The digi was doing it too.

I wish my frags would grow out like this some day. I think I would just frag these when you trim them and sell them.

Frag them off massively and give them away. LOL.

Or trade the frags in at the local reef store. Most give you credit and you could use that to buy 2 part or salt.

You could also swap and sell them locally or online.

pretty cool looking. i agree that you should frag and sell them, or trade it in for store credit like mentioned above.
