touchy subject (selling threads here on RC)

I don't know about the willow tree, but I like the sound of it.

I've never been beaten up there but i did get the crap kicked out of me by most of the Geneseo Hockey team. A case of mistaken identity. But as I was at the Police station, my co-poundee asked me why I had a smirk on my face.

It was the beating I always deserved and never got. I saw the humor in it.

Finally, another concern independent of buying/selling threads refers to writing style. I have increasingly noticed that some individuals write in a very abbreviated manner. This is not a text messaging system. English is spoken here. Not that there can be no abbreviations. But there should be some attempt to express a thought and to engage in some self editing. I don't mean to sound like a 7th grade English teacher but it is getting to be somewhat disturbing to read carelessly written and edited sentences. I realize not everyone here has equivalent education but I believe this is more out of laziness than inability. FWIW, JMHO:)

Yes!! Thank you for posting this. I am quite tired of having to decypher other's writing abilities.

Please:

-use punctuation where necessary. It takes less time for a member to read a propperly written post than a poorly written one, thus allowing said member to move on quickly to the next post or thread.

-apostrophes make something either plural or posessive... use them!!

-a lot is two words.
-your is posessive
-you're is an abbreviation of you are

-Learn to capitalize the first word in a sentence or propper nouns.

-Their is posessive
-They're is an abbreviation of they are
-There can be a noun, pronoun, verb, adverb, and an adjective

I'm sure there are more, but I think that you get my point.

Cully, always remember this:

A friend will bail you out of jail, but a true friend will be right there sitting next to you saying, "Damn that was fun!".

to further Magdelan's comments:
It's hard enough for people that speak English every day to decipher these abbreviations, but these forums are also read by people from all over the world whose native language is not English.
I can imagine that some of them have a hard time translating to regular English never mind the "SMS English".

As to the classified postings rules, I believe that RC is very reasonable. I would not want to switch to anything else. I have been able to get some good deals through this forum and the selling forum on RC.

m2c (oops, I couldn't resist:) )

I'm kinda partial to proper English myself but if you really want to get me hot and bothered stand me up without a courtesy call.

...and finally: spell properly properly... ;)

I knew that I would be called out for something stupid like that :D

can we sticky this thread? just as a general guide to all? I would but I have no idea how to... and yea I agree with the abbreviations. Most I get but some just end up taking more time than a full sentence would. I know I don't exactly spell check or proofread but I believe what I write is legible.

Well I made a sweet image up of what happens at the willow tree but I didn't realize you can't just slap images up on this site so none of you are going to get to see it.

Could this form drift further from it's point? LOL

I've never had a problem with hanging out on this form. I know I haven't been an active part of it for too long though. I'm going to stay here.
