Trap for Pistol Shrimp

Does anyone have the link to making the trap to catch pistol shrimp? I haven't been able to see the little buggers but I have alot of popping and/or clicking going on in my tank, especially at night. I am sure they are going after my barnacles.

get a soda bottle that you have cleaned out cut the top portion off(top of the label area) and invert it in on itself and put some food in it and place it in the tank propped a little on a rock and wait. be prepared to catch more than just pistol shrimps be prepared for a mantis shrimp because that is a possibility too i know i found one this morning in my rock from tampabay saltwater i just havent made a trap for it yet because i have nothing to do with it... yet.

there's nothing wrong with pistols. In fact i find them one of the most efficient cleaners in the tank, and they really don't bother anything else. Mantis - whole other story. some of them are just too smart for the bottle trap.

As for the barnacles they will pretty much die off regardless of the shrimps.

I have pistols that remain in my two nano tanks and they do not appear to do any obvious harm. The mantis shrimps I had were a whole different story. They definitely had to come out of the tanks. The pistol shrimp are considerably smaller than the Mantis Shrimp.

The Mantis are absolute havoc on barnacles and any number of other things.
