No, you are right :)
It looks like you know how to start. Its all about the correct concentration, the correct type of vitamin, and the dose. You should be fine.
Thanks..
I followed Pufferpunk's recommendation on which VC to get... it should be here today....

Spoke to I-herb, they said their prices are already so low, they can't discount it. Shipping is only $4 though, on any size order. Went in on a friend for 5 16oz bottles.

Since VC starts to deteriorate as soon as it ie opened, I prefer to buy the 1lb containers & keep them in the fridge. I get 3 at a time.

Darn, all the folks I have been referring to I-herb for VC & I just found out I can be getting discounts for myself & you guys for the next year, by giving out my referal code: LUL789

So if you're ordering or reordering, please use that coupon code--it might not be too late!

Well I have following this thread and read every post until I was bleary-eyed. I'm very relucant to quickly jump into any new 'fad' or use any type of additive that isn't in accordance with nsw. None-the-less I needed to purchase some VC supplement for my own use and being the 'generous' guy that I am, I decide to share a bit with my tank because of some zoas that I had purchased and were looking very bleak and not opening after an extended period. I have only added small amounts using the build up process detailed in the thread. I'm not even up to a full dosing schedule as of yet.

I think my doubting Thomas syndrome may be weakening. After dosing, the first thing that happened was my nassarium snails all popped up out of the sand like it was a feeding frenzy. By the next day my unresponses zoas have opened up. My tank parameters are keeping pretty much in check, although as others stated, the skimmer started working overtime. The only thing that I can tell that wasn't too happy about the VC addition was my purple slimer which did just that...slimed. Now I hope the VC helps my cold like it did my zoas.

Coincidence? I don't know, but I am going to continue unless I see adverse affects. Pufferpunk, thank you for bringing this to everyone's attention.

Happy Reefing!

Divide the chart by 10. Do you have all the discount codes to use for your purchase?

What chart, and how many ppm of Vit. C am I looking for in my tank.
And yes, I used the 500 code or w/e for the $5.00 and just got the bottle today. I'm lookin to dose!

You really should read the thread or at least look thru it to find info that pertains to your situation. The only way this isnt going to work is if you dont dose correctly.

For every 100 gallons:

5 ppm ----- 1892 mg VC
10 ppm ---- 3785 mg VC
15 ppm ---- 5677 mg VC
20 ppm ---- 7570 mg VC
25 ppm ---- 9462 mg VC
30 ppm ---- 11355 mg VC

Ramp up to 5 ppm twice a day slowly over the course of a week or two for regular dosing and up to 50 ppm twice a day for aggressive problems.
And read thru the thread ;)

O I'm sorry, I didn't realize that was the chart you were talking about.
So just to make sure I am doing this right......
I divide 1892 mg by 10 for my 10 gallon tank and get 189 mg.
So dose 94.5 mg of VC twice a day?
Also, I am sure people do it either way but would you recommend dumping the VC right in the tank or mixing it in a cup filled with tank water then dumping it in?

If I had a 10 gallon tank that I was dosing vitamin C into for purely health reasons and none of my corals were in distress... and I just wanted to improve their color and growth.....

I would dose around 190 mg of vitamin C twice a day disolved into some RO/DI and added somewhere near where freshly filtered water enters my display tank.

If i was using the Sodium Ascorbate from Iherb, I would need approx 1/5 of one 1/4 tsp. i am not sure how to get that dose, its so small. I guess estimating would do it.

I hope this helps. Start out low and bring up your dosage to the 5ppm level slowly over a few days. Dose it twice a day. Take some pics before starting this to show off your incredible growth and colors after a few weeks :p .

Ya, my zoos are real nice....I just have one patch that is has grown 1 polyp in about 6 months....that is when I saw this VC thing and decided to give it a try.

Anyways, about the dosing...I happen to have a .02 scale that measures in grams so 200 mg would be .20 on the scale.....how does that sound?

I guess it sounds ok. i am lucky enough to dose 1 level tsp to achieve around 6-7 ppm so its easy for me.

Take a picture of that single zoa, it may turn ito a few within a few weeks. I had a single droopy purple death that Pufferpunk gave me. It looked like crap for weeks. After around 4-5 weeks on vitamin C there are 5 really healthy polyps.

I have a severe case of red turf algae. It seems to be turning brown & dying somewhat. It's strong stuff though & refuses to completely die!
