Tridacna mbalavuana

Based on photos of that particular one, I wouldn't be interested. I would really like to see one in person though, photos generally don't do our animals justice.

Anyways, hopefully it goes to a good home so we may see more enter the hobby.

I can't justify some of the items in retail that are being hyped and overpriced just due to rarity but isn't necessarily pretty or attractive. In the case of this clam, regardless of how rare it is, I wouldn't pay more than $80 for it, but that's just me.

What some find interesting or pretty isn't always the same. I guess folks don't agree with that and feel the need to publicly say what they wouldn't buy.

i think it looks awesome. i am checking out some more pictures on google image search now of other specimens. very unique looking. i love the texture

I saw that, there is also one, maybe this one, at unique corals now and they have put out some more info about it.

This is the UC one.

FWIW the "I wouldn't pay $80 for it" comment had me rolling. Freight from Tonga alone is greater then $80

I'm interested in it, but they're asking too many clams for my blood, at least until the house is paid off.

Pretty cool. Not $2,500 cool though. Wonder if its wild collected (as opposed to cultivated). I'd think. Maybe means we'll see Gigas again in the hobby at some point.

I think they are wild collected. 12" big guy too. I would do something like $500 for one with that cool mantle, but maybe if I was rich...

Lets face it, the only reason someone would pay $2500 for that clam is to be able to say "I have a devil clam! Super rare!". The patterns are neat but nothing spectacular.

I'd much rather have a Gigas myself :)

Isn't that about half the hobby right now?

I would rather have a gigas too, but then I would buy a new tank just for it and my CC debt would not be fun. Ok, even less fun than it is now!
