Trip to the Shedd - interested?

I don't want to be a wet blanket but.....Isn't that Saint Pats Day weekend? That could make it harder to find rooms and a lot more crowded possibly. Don't they have a pretty big party up there and dye the river green? Perhaps not a concern but I thought it may be worth mentioning...... (sorry Greg!)

Rob .... I know that there is a reason why I like you but as of right now it simply escapes me! :D

One more time then ....how about the NEXT weekend? That would be the 24th and 25th.

This is SO much fun!:D

24th and 25th would work SO much better for me. I'll be going regardless, but still :D

OK .... let's say that the dates of the 24th. and 25th. are now set in stone.

For the purpose of moving this whole thing forward we need to discuss where we want to stay and then decide on which place we want to stay in.

Personally, I like the idea of staying out near the LFSs and then driving in to town the next morning .... but then again, I'm not a city kind of guy.

What does everyone else think?

Where are things in proximity to each other? If we could get something centrally located it'd be great just to walk, i'm sure Chicago traffic is terrible. That being said, if we all splurge on the LFS visits it would suck to walk back with a huge cooler of fish and frags  What mode of transportation are we going to use? I think that will dictate where we stay :)

It sounds like the good LFSs are located about an hour away from downtown Chicago. I don't think I'll be walking to them!:D

I don't think we have much choice other than driving our cars there.

I would choose maybe hoffman estates, you are 40 minutes from rod's reef, 20 from ocean's floor, 15 from exotic aquatics, minutes from aquarium adventure(petco), minutes from beyond the reef, 30 minutes from shotank and sea schor, and there are like probably 5 others within 15-20 minutes....if you stay in geneva, you could take the train to the city and drive to the LFS's, if you stayed in geneva, on the day you visit LFS's, i would suggest rod's reef, then to exotic, then ocean's floor, then over to sea schor and sho tank, then down to the LFS's in the schaumburg area, then there is another in elgin, then back to geneva....(big circle)

Hoffman Estates?? Is this a city/town or rual area within the metro Chicago area? It sounds good if your just driving in a large circle and hitting the shops.

We will be driving for this trip. Either the P/k truck or the B.B. So where ever we stay should not be to big of an issue for us, just as long as we can stay formed up as a group.
