Triple-S Fish Ranch - 1700gal 164” x 48” x 56” SPS peninsula build

I have always housed a lot of wrasse in sps reefs... The six line and the green wrasse are straight killers, I had a pretty thriving sps tank that had the flatworms and they pretty much eradicated them or kept populations small enough for things to be heathy where I did not notice.... I had about 8 other wrasses in tank as well

Very awesome tank system. Well thought out. When you get sps coral, have you considered an apogee par meter to measure provide the proper lighting without the guesswork? I went to my lfs to see what par the frags were sitting and I can adjust my lights to reflect that par level to reduce shock. Also, maybe feed reef chili and rotifer, pod mix. I decided on same light on quarantine as display and just adjusting intensity based on proximity to light. Do you have any recent tanks shots? I also characterized my Dt par so I can place properly in the display after quarantine. Do you have a wrasse for aefw's? Just in case any are missed in quarantine? Drs foster has some good recommendation on natural predators for all sorts of potential tank inhabitant issues.

Maybe pan the room, I didn't see a 9' diamond pool table in cherry pecan, double shimmed, Simonis cloth and ultra fast rails. Looks like a couple could fit. Ditch the four top table for a nice leather viewing sofa and extra large coffee table.

If the eggs are always on the plugs, would it make sense to dip just that portion in a bleach solution during the process, on top of the Bayer dip? Just a thought. I wouldn't experiment with an expensive plug, tho!

Cut the plug off!

Just read through this whole build. Wow! I'm setting up a 280 about an hour north of if you. Won't even hold a candle to this, but definitely learned a few things from your build thread :-) thank you

Last update from OP was on 3/1. Not optimistic...

Seems the way of many of these threads. Tons of initial posts and hype and then nada....

Hopefully I'm wrong and OP posts an update soon.

Thank you so much for your extensive documentation. I am a middle school science teacher who has reef tanks in my class room as teaching "tools". I say "tools" because its so much fun for me and the kids learn so much without having to be forced to take notes test. They love it and we frequent this thread to discuss ideas.

Well OP logged in last month... but no update.

I just spotted this thread, read the first 11 pages and decided to jump to the last page to find out how most of this huge builds end up into... nothing to be amazed about.

I really enjoy this hobby and understand that some of us are more passionate than others, but projects this big get overwhelming very very fast and that is because some of us forget what this is... a hobby.

One can get "forumed out" too... Epic build, when there is newsworthy progress, I'm sure we'll get an update.... He went TEXAS big and change takes time... Loved the crane moving stuff around, epic .... :)

It is a huge tank, beautifully built into the surrounding room(s), what isn't to be impressed/amazed about? That it isn't fully grown out yet? Or that there hasn't been an update in a while? LOL just because someone isn't posting regularly on here giving us all updates does not mean at all they have given up on their tank. They just may not be interested in providing continual updates, can get old I'm sure.
