Can anyone tell me how Tropiquatics is, specifically Live Rock. I would love to get LR for someone out here but everyone is too far from me. (Carol Stream)

Tropiquatics live rock is pretty pricey if I remember right.... You could always go to ReefWise in Lisle or Aquapros in Glen Elyn

Wish i saw this earlier! I was at Tropiquatics tonight. They had a large selection of rock in. Fiji for $5.50 a lb... Which is pretty cheap IMO.

Be careful with these guys. They screwed me a couple times when I did not know any better. They were more worried about the sale then what was right for my needs. Even though they are 5 minutes from my work I avoid them at all costs still.

I went to Aquapros today Dave is a real nice guy and he took good care of me the dry rock was great and i got a piecd of lr to seed it. I am gonna put it all together tomorrow and start cycling

Me too. Terrible experience. Won't go back.

Reefwise in Lisle is way better and Brian has lots of rock.

yep, selection is horrible too... Place was much better at there old location across the street...Seems it had gone down hill...Corals are not in great shape, selection is bad, and rocks don't look great either let alone you can see the stuff you don't want on there.. Sucks too since I live in town..

I agree with the majority of the posts. It has got the basic needs to be a reefer, but lacks the high-end selection of both equipment and livestock to give your tank a wow factor.

Couldn't agree more. If your don't know any better you would think it is a decent shop with some nice stuff compared to the box pet stores. but then when you finally get to one of the nice reef stores it really opens your eyes up. What did it for me was going to Midwest Coral Farms. This place blew me away, the people were very nice knowledgable and took time with you to answer every question even when they were packed. They seemed to honestly care about the hobby, the guys that worked there. It's too bad they stopped selling to the public. Tropiquantics just seems to be in it for a profit and to make a sale. Not all the guys who work there are bad, there are a couple I do like who are very nice and helpful. But, I can't stand the owner. When I was younger I rode my bike up there to look at the fish and he told me if I wasn't going to buy anything to get out.
