Trouble on the SPS build front.... Receding/Melting Tips = Slime + Death

So here is my situation.

0 Nitrate
0 Phosphate
Calc 400
Alk 5.5 (on its way back up)

Tank was set up in June. (See my equipment list in my signature)

So all of my sps have begun "melting" and receding at the tips.

They look like they are oozing a brown slime...

I realized after 2 weeks that my doser was sitting at the program menu, (after I had done some manual mag dosing) and therefore not dosing anything during that time.

I have since upped the alk dosage to boost my alk back up to the 8ish mark. Calc hovered mid 300's.

I also 2 weeks ago took my bio-pellet reactor (TLF reactor) offline as I felt like I could not keep even a minimal amount of Nutrients in the tank and was also starving my SPS... I have a small xenia rock that is currently melting...

So what advice do you guys recommend? I have been basting the slime off the sps so that they can extend there polyps during this time as much as possible.

Any advice is welcome..

Kinda bummin right now...

I am looking for any kind of advice

Keep your calcium and alkalinity level elevated - don't let them go up and down drastically. 8-9 is a good range for your Dkh, as for your calcium, keep it at least 400. Most importantly, monitor these levels on a weekly basis and dose accordingly.

Also, check on your salinity levels with a quality refractometer and get a test kit for magnesium. Keep all of these levels in check and your sps should recover so not as not too much damage has been done.

I bet the problem is with your alkalinity. I have a 28gal nano and I had a few sps in it and on average it dropped 2dhk a day, and I knew that it required 1 oz a day. Well when I added a bunch more sps, the nxt day I had lost several frags by morning. It was because the addition of the frags took my alk down to 5 that fast. Bring it up I think that will help.
