trouble with blue carpet.

here are some more pics... Should I move it to the top of the rocks like posted above? I can clear a spot on the top right.


 
I would move it to the top of the rock. IME gigs need as much current as they can get. The same goes for light. Of all anemones that I had/have, gigs are the most sensitive to tank parameters, especially during acclimation.
 
I put it on top of the rocks shut off the pumps and it just walked right back down in 5 mins. I know the nem is stressed and now I am too : ( I wish it would just attach. I refuse to touch it again, I feel like its a major negative. I will turn on the pumps again in like 2hrs and hope it attaches to the spot it "walked" to. As for the Saddle it is still retracted, should I be worried?

The Haddoni is most likely retracted because of the contact with the Gig. It isn't going to help either one for them to be touching. One or the other one has to be moved. The Gig is already stressed, don't need to have it more stressed by "battling" with the Haddoni.

In addition, make sure to be running fresh carbon, there very well could be some chemical warfare starting. Personally, I am not a fan of mixing anemone species.
 
the gig attached to a rock on the opposite side of the tank. YES! this time its on really good and looks great all open. When should I try to feed it for the first time? I was thinking tomorrow night?
 
It still hasn't really attached, it attaches during the day and detaches at night...it has been all over the tank and has not settled down yet. It seems to want to go back over to the saddle carpet. I have been keeping the current in such a way that it's hard to get to the saddle. On a positive note, it is looking better and better. More full and while moving corals out of its way I noticed it is now very sticky.

Since its looking good I am not going to worry about it and I am hoping that it will find a spot soon. I'll post some more pics tomorrow.
 
When i got my purple gig, i placed him close to the sand but on the rocks and he attached quickly and has never moved, hes on the bottom, about 4" off the sandbed, my tank is 24" tall, he was always super sticky, started off feeding mysis, nothing to big, it doesnt look to bad i bet it will come around.They like varying currents to, mine is pretty close to my vortech
 
I am feeling like this is much harder than it should be. I really hope this doesn't negatively affect my saddle which has been retreated 3-4 times since yesterday. it never ever did that before.
 
Add a piece of glass, plastic or live rock as barrier to keep the Hadonni from come in contact the Gigantea. run some carbon may help.
 
good idea pointing the powerhead to flow from the saddle to the other end so he can't get to the saddle. if it does not work out for you please FedEx it to me. :D

i know it's frustrating at times. when i got my carpet i am so freak out about everything but one day i just sit back and say.......... darn it, i can worry all day long but destiny will have a final say so i stop worrying and assume i will eventually lose the anemone and accept the fact it will die........... i try to enjoy the tank as it is w/o the anemone .....and at the end the carpet looks good :) what i am saying is assume and prepare for the worst and just learn to accept the worse if in the end there is a happy ending you embrace it as a reward :D

Pink, I agree with your logic. I have taken the same outlook. The powerhead seems to be holding the gig in place so I am not going to worry about it anymore and just wait and see what happens.

Here are some pics from just now. Aquascaping is a mess from moving corals out of the way and the glass is dirty because I dont want stress anything lol. Now if it would host my clowns.....Let me not be greedy :D

 
It looks OK. Hope it will attach and do well. I am suprise that your Ocellaris isn't all over it by now. It is the natural host for A. ocellaris. Often other people have problem keeping their ocellaris from digging into the anemone's mouth and causr more problem
 
Nope the A. ocellaris pair haven't even looked it or me saddle for that matter. I had a BTA I sold that was there host for about a year. I read somewhere the sting of the gig is too much for juvenile clowns?...I am going to have to go get some fresh carbon my saddle is retreating again.
 
just wondering if the mouth has closed, and if you've started feeding it yet ... i guess my question is: will they even take food if their mouth is gaping?
 
there's a reason why the mouth is agape and i'd wouldn't attempt to feed the anemone until the mouth is at least very semi closed, like the space of your articulated index finger with a relaxed fist .

Well the gig seems to like its spot and hasn't moved. Its mouth is a little open with some insides coming out. I couldn't get a pic because he has it covered. I didn't really get alarmed because my saddle does that all the time then closes its mouth. The saddle hasn't opened up in a day or so, Which is now beginning to concern me. Anything I can do besides carbon?

Also I added a pair of misbar clowns I picked up from a local. The first 5 minutes the clowns did not get along the "new" clowns(misbar) showed the "old" clowns what the gig was. Within 10 mins they were all in it and no fighting what so ever. Now there one big happy family :D

-BTW I promise to take some much better pic in a few weeks when I re-aquascape and make sure that both nems are fine. Right now all the rocks and corals are a mess because I don't know if that gig still wants to move.
