True Envy Orange PPE

I think the basic part in this thread was lost, this dude was just asking if anyone had this...and how long before they multiply... Thats it...

He's not asking what you think about the price or what you think about the paly for that price arguments, or if anyone should pay for it. If the guys wants to pay for it let it be,keep your feelings about the people paying $$$$ for a tiny thing... unless he asks for, in this case he didn't. So don't flame or show any hateraid in regards to anyone willing to pay for it. Thats their business.

I too have always wondered about the growth rates of these guys. Could they really be this slow? Perhaps but there must be something in their life history that allows them to survive. There are many examples of rare species.
As far as price I don't understand why so many act offended at the price. Would I pay it? No even if I had the money for it I would not.
Furthermore think about some of the fish that cost thousands or that clear tube in everyone's sump (most) that holds bubbles and makes collects waste. No one ever gets upset when someone shows their new deltec skimmer.

i acquired these a while back. are these the same as the "true envy orange ppe"

I just saw the picture on the reef envy site and I thought they were supposed to be orange all the way to the center. Looks like they have a dark ring around the mouth like many other PE types.

The slow growth idea and price hype is a marketing ploy that seems to work well. It may seem like some really slow growth especially if you only start with 1 polyp. This type of polyp, Zoanthus Gigantus, does grow a little slower than other zoanthids, but not that slow. I have several different colors of these polyps and they all grow fairly well.

tankgeeks- Those are very nice polyps.

Those look the same to me too tankgeeks. But I only own one zoo (a rpe) - and I mean only (1) zoo. So what do I know. I've paid 175 for a coral frag - I probably would be willing to pay $1000 for a frag of something I loved if I had that kind of expendable income. Why not - you only live once and you might as well enjoy yourself.

thanks for the input....they have been growing alright, fairly slow, but not AS slow as described earlier in this thread....im actually thinking about finally making a couple frags here in the near future.

The shot from Reef Envy look san awful lot like lower K true RPE's (don't get me wrong, true are RPE's are pretty nice), not to mention PS'd to hell, as aquarius mentioned. I have some of those (but not PS'd to hell:D). Mine are orange with the darker center around the mouth. The EO's I've seen are completely orange to the center (no darker section near the mouth).
These were under nearly burnt XM 15K's. These are true RPE's, though, not EO...

Not very pretty in my opinion. With 1050 to spend, you can get a ton of rare zoo/paly frags.

I really like my tubs blue zoos and its not that expensive.

I do like the orange color, but $1000 is way too much for me. There are a lot of other colors I still want to get, before I could think of spending that much money.

Very nice though!

I have bam bams, tubs, ppes, purple deaths, nuclear greens, rainbows, legions of doom, lord of the rings, 2 types of cats eyes, hermans reds, pink lemonades, eclipse yellows, radioactive dragon eyes, green ppes, red ppes, and so on and so on.............I want something different and not something you can see in anyones tank that you look at. Why is that so hard to understand. Its not about the money or the color or bragging rights.............its about rarity. Nothing else.

I have Bam Bams. They are OK, but I still think these are nicer. At least from the pics, as I have not seen them in person. Just not in my range right now. For now, I will keep working on the reds and blues.
