Trueblackpercula and peroxide for AEFW

Well it's my turn to battle the nasty AEFWorms. I dipped my spa in 1000mls of tank water and used 300Mls of peroxide and as you can see from the video they don't like it lol. I left my colony in there for 8 minutes and it looks like it worked. You will no when they are dead because they turn white.

Sorry to hear that. You were almost assuring you would get them with all those maricultured colonies; they're like little pest factories. Good luck fighting them!

how did you get them and how long do you think you had them?
was it those maricultured colonies you got and did Bill get them as well?

Was your peroxide 3% over the counter stuff? There are different concentrations, so it could matter a bit.

Sorry to see this , if you can setup a qt tank that will give you a big edge in beating them

Thanks , I will not be setting up a QT tank way to much work and effort. If they die oh well I will just replace them as they are so cheap it's not even funny. But I will be using peroxide as my new dip and remove the entire base they come on.

I have used peroxide for a while as a dip. It works well. I use 35%- 5ml/L tank water
I don't know if it gets the eggs though?!.
Kit does however kill all of the nuisance algae that comes in on the bases!.

What made you think to try it?.

Its not harsh on the acros flesh? I got rid of them with a strict dipping routine when I has them years ago. I wouldn't setup a qt if I got them again, that's the only way I lost acros was rushing an unstable qt. Dipping was much easier. I filled a 20 long with dip and tank water and did three batches of coral and was done for the week.

I was doing some only searches and came across someone from Italy mentioned it was all they use for dips on maricultured pieces and never have problems. So I tried it and I was blown away when I seen what was falling off. I have used so many other dips and none have worked like this.

About 2 yrs ago, I used Bayer insecticide, dipped once a week, for 8 weeks and they are gone. I was a real PITA..... Good luck

What I found to be odd is that I dipped several pieces and only that one had worms. I will dip again this weekend and see if things have changed for the better.

Keep us updated. I am battling them as well. Good luck to you. Justin Credabel spoke about using H2O2 as a dip for many corals at MACNA. Speaks quite highly of this substance. I know it works great with algae as I have used it in the past.

That's an awesome attitude "if they die, I'll replace them as they are so cheap it's not even funny"

Way to respect the ocean!

I've used peroxide on various corals except acros for algae. Good to know it's working for you and on acropora..

On the other hand weren't we talking about this in your first thread about your mariculture stuff? Those bases Harbor all kinds of nastiness, being the minority and NOT removing them is not a good idea in my opinion ( kinda guessing yours now to).

I totally agree the bases need to come off no matter what. Leason learned on my part wont ever happen again that's for sure.
Thanks for the advice I should have taken it.

What can I do? I am doing the best that I can. If they don't make it I am not going to die over it. It's like everything else we try our best to keep things alive they end up dead in our tanks we go out and buy new ones. I spend lots of time and money on my tank and want nothing more for th animals I keep to live for years, but again if they die oh well what can I do?

So in your comment what's your point?
