almost a 1000 ml

That finished product looks NASTY!!
What are you going to do when you run out of your can of cyclop eze?

Micheal, are you running the Mitras in high output mode or high efficiency mode?

What's up mitras brother lol I am running high output mode but I really should consider either lowering the overall intensity or switching to high efficancy mode. I don't know if I am giving to much light or not enough. I think starting Monday I am going to switch over for to high efficiency mode for two weeks and see if my Sps give off any reaction to the change. These lights are really amazing and the color I am getting of of some of my Sps is insane. I just need a little more tweaking and it shod be fine. I created a new project if your interested shoot me a email and I will send it over.

Yo! :)
Actually, with my old tank, I was only ever about 85% satisfied with my mitras. They were perfect for all corals except a few acroporas which I could never get to look the same as when they were under mh. I had lots of success and great colour but I found a few acros would not give me the colours I wanted. Yes, I have been an Acroholic for years and have spent more hours staring down at my tank than I've spent watching tv so my expectations were absolutely of the highest order... Anyways my next set up will mix mh/t5 with the mitras..
Here's my rational for programming my mitras: the sun gives off full spectrum and it is at its most intense at noon. However, salt water is very efficient at filtering out the red end of the spectrum, a little less efficient at green and even less efficient at filtering out blue. So, in my opinion, corals receive more of the blue end of the spectrum then any other part. For this reason, I have always programmed my lights with the blues at maximum and used the whites only enough to bring the overall look of the tank to something close to around 18-20k. I have 3 mitras over a 4.5 foot span so I always used them in high efficiency mode at around 60-85%. These lights are extremely powerful and it was easy for me to bleach out corals if the white LEDs were too intense.. I'll do the same with my soon to be reset up tank but I won't put the whites over 30%..

Curious to see if the abrotanoides keeps it's red under the mitras. I have never tried that coral. Apparently, it's tough to keep coloured up..

I have had it three times over the years already and all three times they have died slowly. But right now I have it on the sand bed acclimating to the leds.

In about a month I will raise it closer to the light fixture ( If I don't get inpatient) The acropora gemmifera from what I understand love high very high flow and blistering light as well.

I should not have bought it but I always wanted one as I have never seen them for sale so I figured I would give it a try. The tips look like they have purplish color to them so I am a sucker for these things LOL not to mention for the price cant go wrong.

So i just wanted to show what the the pieces I picked up looked like yesterday morning before the lights came on. I also want to note that this is right after feeding liquid Genesis LOL.

I am also posting my tank test results only because I have ordered A Triton test kit and will be sharing my results here.

Very nice PE on those frags. It is amazing what good water quality, lighting, food, and water circulation does to acro frags. I went from an overdriven T5 system to DIY full spectrum LED and the lights produce outstanding colors. It took about 6 months and increased feeding to get superior results. The mitras appear to be working very well for you.................................Jim

I totally agree with you on this and yes I am super happy with the Mitras it only took a short while to come up with a good project.

By the way these really look small but are really nice sized matriculated pieces but I guess we can call them over sized frags. I am still paranoid about the AEFW that people talk about that come from them.

I check every day and have yet to see any on my 14 pieces. But I must note for all to know that my coperband butterfly checks all of them when I first introduce them to the tank. so maybe he eats them if they are there LOl. I must say i went from dozens and dozens of aptasia anemones and now have none.

I do dip my sps when they first come in three times before I actually put them in the tank. I also scrub the sides of them in between each 15 minute dip with a tooth brush.

I then take this really big magnifying glass and look at the base and the actual coral for any signs of AEFW or bit marks and any other pest. They only thing I have found to date was gorilla crabs and I remove them. The bases they come on do have algea on them but for some reason the tang eats it up and I don't see it return so either he keeps on top of it or the prodibio is working on it.

I do have two types of algae in my tank that is still fighting the fight with me. it looks like natural seaweed and the other appears to be bryo****. I think I need to add two more yellow tangs or possablly a purple tang and a poweder blue we shall see. I have also learned that springer damsel fish are now know to eat AEFW and the other type of planaria flat worms. I may just pick up a few for a couple reasons. ( any advice from anyone ?)

First is because i like the look of them and how they will each select an area to defend and second they eat AEFW lol just as a precautionary measure.
