Trueblackperculas 120cube with Mitras Lx6100Hv

When I was taking photos of my corals, I would put my Mitras in manual mode and turn the whites up to full. Gives really accurate colour rendition, I found.. Hen when you exit, the mitras go back to their program.. Was very conveniant..
Mike, did I read that correctly? Do you use dried skimmate in your Pappone mix?

here is one from tonight

Well I knew it was going to be just a matter of time before this would happen. I noticed no PE on this piece for several days and decided to take the piece out of the tank and BAM the war begins. I am another victim of AEFW and I am completely disgusted with my mistakes. I did everything I could to avoid them with multiple dips and scrubbing and inspecting. I have used everything from bayer to revive to lastly coral rx and thought the coral rx was the best. Well this is not the case as you can see.Take a look at the pictures then the video you will be amazed, Well I am anyways.
I decided to dip in peroxide and this stuff works like nothing I have ever seen. Well lets see how long before either I win or they do.
Almost forgot I dipped them in 1000 mls of tank water with 300mls of peroxide for 8 minutes. You will no when they are dead because they turn white.

I am not really concerned about it to be honest. If the Sps live fine if they die I will just replace them. But when I do replace them if I have to I will remove the base and dip everything In Peroxide. Wha can you do its all part of the hobby and I really try to not get them but they always somehow get into the tank. Thanks for the good wishes and I will keep you posted.

Do you have any wrasses in the tank? Picked up a couple maricultured pieces myself a few weeks ago, but I have 4 wrasses constantly picking over the rocks.

Also, is that coral in the last pic humulis or samoensis?

It s called Acropora Gemmifera and is really starting to show some amazing colors and PE. It looks very different in color from when I got it.

@trueblackpercula...what strength Hydrogen Peroxide do you use and how do you find
the acroporas reaction to the dip?

I ended up dipping my two maricultures (again) in Bayer (80ml in 2L tank water) over the weekend, as they were not looking so hot. They look a little better now, but I plan to dip once a week for another 7 weeks or so. I really hope my other corals are not affected.

I was asking about your gemifera because I acquired an A. Humulis frag that I am pretty excited about and to me they are similar looking. Obviously they are not the same, but the sort of chunky bubbly appearance is shared (and cool looking).

Hope the peroxide dips are working out! Looking forward to reading the full experience.

Three of the four are doing really well. One is not doing so well and I doubt it had anything to do with the dip. All I can say is that it works very affectively and you should do between 200 and 300mls for each 1000mls of tank water for 3 to 5 minutes. You will see your acroporas lighten in color. I did two dips already and probally will not do a third. Only because I didn't see any eggs and no worms at all. Beside the acros look stressed out for the worms and dips so they need a break.

That's a nice frag you got there and I hope it does well for you. I will try and post a picture of mine as its really turning purple with lime green poylps.

Just putting the below information on my thread to keep recored of my testing and findings. I posted the below information in another thread for reefmutt, :)

Hey what’s going on reefmutt ?

Sure now please be careful with this method and remember less is more in this case. At first when I did it i was to aggressive and found out the hard way that too much will lighten up your sps very quickly. if you watch the below video I mention 1000mls of tank water to 300mls of peroxide for 8 minutes. That is insanely too long and I now can say that the dilution ratio should be in the 200mls to 250mls in 1000mls for 3 minutes max.

I learned this late Sunday night when dipping again just to make sure and found this to be a very affective dip not only for AEFW but anything including Asternia starfish and algae <<<< The plugs are 100%algae free and you can see that clean looking pink purple coralline algae.
I did not see a single AEFW or eggs on any of the pieces i dipped. The one in the video below is doing very well has a little PE and still has color. AEFW free as of Sunday night
I do have another large colony that I dipped to aggressively, Meaning 8 minutes in 300mls in 1000mls of tank water way too long and too strong of a dip for this sps. So the below would be my recommendation and again less is more.
If you start to see your Acropora foaming you have dipped to long ( like when you were a kid and used it on a scab that kind of foaming) I hope she makes it as it has tripled in size since I acquired it, but I just could not go without dipping it.
In closing: 150 mls/200mls to 250mls MAX in 1000mls of tank water for up to 1 to 3 minutes MAX is more than enough time. Then place Acropora in another container with tank water for 15 minutes to calm down. Then back into a fresh batch of peroxide dip for 1 to 3 minutes just to be safe. Then back into tank water to calm down again.

At this point you can place into quarantine tank or back into main display. I would also like to mention that I did notice that the eggs changed color from deep orange to a cloudy orange look. So may also be good for the killing of the eggs but remember I did go strong in the beginning and more aquarist like myself and others may need to test to method thoroughly until we can come up with an almost perfect dip and possibly an in tank treatment.

In tank treatment: from what I noticed when I dipped the acropora in the solution I made they went crazy to get off the coral as if they were in fire. So just as a thought and I may explore this not only for AEFW but a few areas where I have algea. I was thinking about getting t Two Little Fishies Julian's Thing Coral & Fish Target Feeder filling it up and target spraying the areas where the algea is and spraying some of the sps to see if any AEFW fall off. Well this is another theory and will need some in depth testing before I can say if it is affective or not.
I do think that I am very close to the perfect dip but would really like to hear from others. I really think this could be the nail in AEFW coffin for a long awaited problem.

UPDATE !!!!

Take a look at the videos and be amazed at what the AEFW look like. I have decided to through them all in the garbage as it is not worth the fight anymore. (hope no one gets upset but these little guys are running ramped.

Here they are at 12 minutes
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sVdVZ458OrE
here they are at 22 minutes
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dm_3UFT9jow

It took almost 58 minutes for them to completely all die including the eggs. by the way the eggs turn almost white when dead. they don't have that really nice looking orange color.

****** Let me be the first to report my findings as I was blown away and would not have believed it, If not seen with my own eyes *******

I dipped everything again and found AEFW that were bigger and uglier then the first batch LOL but what killed me was that I decided to leave the acro in the 1:5 ratio of peroxide solution to see how long before the eggs would die.

Well after 22 minutes the AEFW were still alive and one of them started to crawl out of the polyp coralite cavity. I would have never seen this as I was only dipping for several minutes.
I am willing to bet that's why most of us get AEFW because we just don't have the correct dips and we don't leave them long enough in the dip solution.

I think this is great news for the hobby as we can now try and beat these little acro killers.

So With my next batch of mari cultred pieces I plan on removing the bases and dipping I just don't know what to use anymore. I may go with revive or bayer an possabily a combination with peroxide.

Hope this helps everyone,Also the acro bleached out and died at the 17 to 18 minute mark
