Trust absolutely no one.

Pulled this off the US Mint Page. Check the year, if its post 1982 (It looks newer) then not only is the guy a huge jerk, but he's also an idiot as it would only have been composed of 2.5% copper.

The Composition of the Cent

Following is a brief chronology of the metal composition of the cent coin (penny):

The composition was pure copper from 1793 to 1837.
From 1837 to 1857, the cent was made of bronze (95 percent copper, and five percent tin and zinc).
From 1857, the cent was 88 percent copper and 12 percent nickel, giving the coin a whitish appearance.
The cent was again bronze (95 percent copper, and five percent tin and zinc) from 1864 to 1962.
(Note: In 1943, the coin's composition was changed to zinc-coated steel. This change was only for the year 1943 and was due to the critical use of copper for the war effort. However, a limited number of copper pennies were minted that year. You can read more about the rare, collectible 1943 copper penny in "What's So Special about the 1943 Copper Penny.")
In 1962, the cent's tin content, which was quite small, was removed. That made the metal composition of the cent 95 percent copper and 5 percent zinc.
The alloy remained 95 percent copper and 5 percent zinc until 1982, when the composition was changed to 97.5 percent zinc and 2.5 percent copper (copper-plated zinc). Cents of both compositions appeared in that year.

If thats the case, I found a post suggesting that zinc isn't terrible for a larger system. So hopefully you guys are good to go. I will echo the "trust no one" sentiment though.

Better then what has been tried in Orlando LFS. One of the better ones was a victim to Bleach being dumped into his Coral and Fish Systems. After the 2nd time, Set up a Hidden camera. Caught a young kid doing it to show support toward his brothers newly built fish store in another County!

The kid would come in with a Coke can with bleach in it. Walk the store and dump a little then leave. Come back a Week later, Same day and do it again.

Don't get me wrong I wasn't trying to imply whoever did this wasn't a complete *******. I was just curious about the pennies damage potential.

I just told my g/f about this and I cannot seem to understand the vengeance people seem to be having against fish stores lately. I honestly think it's time for some beefed up security.

I just got a mental image of someone like Terry crews as security slapping a drink out of some guys hand, walking into the store! LOL

But I agree. It sickens me to hear stuff like this happening.

I found a friend couple weeks ago smoking in my fish room [where all the sumps are ... its also smoking room, but my the window] ashing his cig in the sump !

his lucky I let him leave in one piece ....

turned off the returned and changed all the water in sump ASAP after ... nothin bad came from it.

I have seen too many threads about this type of crap going on. No one has the right to try and destroy someone else's business for any reason. I hope someone catches whoever is doing this crap.

Was this Muckmouth doing it intentionally? Should be fine, he will be gone in a few years from smoking anyhow. They should put his picture on the cigarette packs!

John I wouldn't mark anything up for you but I have a wholesale connection for cctv if you consider going that route.

Obviously this idiot doesn't know Karate Kid owns the store.
