Most likely a goner but you could dip it in tapwater for a minute or so.It can come back even from that.

Just make sure the tap water is same temperature. Its your best shot at this point. You need to do it right away.

I just diped it with some coral dip that I have, should I try to do it with tap water also? Any thoughts on the cause?

Euphilla sp. like hammer ,frogspawn and torches are more prone to brown jelly infection.
Its easy to cure with a freshwater dip.I've never used any other method.

Did you see any brown-ish goo on the fleshy part of the tt?( Before dipping )

I wouldn't over doit,if you already dipped it wait and see how it looks.

well I really never got to see the fleshy part because it never "fully" came out. all I saw was 2/16" long tentacles yesterday that were still in the skeleton. When I looked at it looked like there were some brown spots on top of this "thing"
ok, how long should i give it before trying the fw dip?
really would love to save this guy!!

Yeah, that sounds like Brown jelly infection from your description.

The problem with dips is that you can further weaken a coral. They have protective slimes whitch they shed off to rid themselves of pathogens and other bacterial diseases .ect..
Dipping removes some of this slime -over dipping and it will kill it as it can remove to much making it vunerable to secondary or re- infection.

Its hard to say how long you should wait ,does it look any better ? If not try try the fresh water dip,put it back in tank out of bright light with gentle flow.
Good luck alex

after the dip, it looks like some of the jelly is gone, underneath there is still some green, is that a sign of life?

so shall I proceed with the fw dip when ready? There is still some of that stuff on top loose and moves back and forth with the current. If I do the fw dip, should I scrub the rest of the jelly off with something?

No scrubbing.Just swish it back and forth in the tap water. The Chlorine in the tapwater is what will kill the bacteria.

Yes if your seeing the brown you need to dip it.

just did the fw dip, about 1 min. Swished it like you said. Looks like most of the jelly is gone there is some green under there. Not is placed under low flow area, should I turn the t5 off leave moon lights on and call it a day? Or leave the t5 running?
Thanks for all the help Steve!! :)

As long as its not in bright light, should be fine to leave lights on. Low to moderate current is best just not blasting.

Check on it throughout the day if you see any sign of the brown you need to dip it again.
When you use the tapwater dip dont aerate it. Cl- is not real solable in water. This is the reason your sink has an aerator built into the faucet ,it removes it pretty quickly.

Welcome alex,wish ya' luck.-steve

thanks for asking
