Tune Up?

Richard,

You provided rock and live sand for my hundred gallon a year ago Thanksgiving. (I met you at the P.O.)
My question is: do I need to add additional Live sand this year?
Many people are of the opinion that new sand should be added yearly. Waddaya think?
Also: If I get some sand... can you look around for some really overgrown caulerpa rocks? My tangs wiped out the original rock in days!!!

I need small rock, covered in caulerpa, so I can build a rubble pile, where they can't get the "roots" so that they will pick at it FOREVER!

Is this possible?

Your sand is fine.....you have the real thing......


But......we are in the middle of winter here....and the plant life on the rocks almost disappears...every year, then starts showing up again in april. I can get it from the Keys year round, but just the plant itself...no rock attached.

But that will have to be on the next 1000 mile odyssey trip down there, and that will be a while!

But will grab some next time I am there.

What you might consider is getting some culerpa loose and rubberbanding it to maybe three rocks. Put it in the sump to get it covered, then rotate the rocks into the DT and back to the sump. If you have a lit sump/fuge area, it would give you a continuous supply. Otherwise I am pretty sure they will pick at anything till it can't feed the rhizome and basically stunts it into nonexistence.
