Hi Roger

I have a Tunze 3115 Comline Protein Skimmer that I got used. It works great but was wonder if there is a possibility of getting it serviced to get a new pump and improve its performance. My email is moonyguy@yahoo.com

Let me know.

If you gave it a good clean you will probably find it will pick up a fair bit. Just give a general all over. Give the piping a clean, the slightest blockage can make a significant difference. Check the pump and give it a good clean. Etc. etc You can just use vinegar and a cloth, brush , pipecleaner to do this.

If you decide to get a new pump you should be able to order one through your LFS. Its code is 3115.040.

Cheers

You are also welcome to send it in for a full overhaul, cost would be $25 plus parts. Usually they need a new drive unit for the pump and a silencer assembly as it may be leaking. It could also be upgraded to the new hydrofoamer nozzle for better performance, this should give you about 20% mre air flow over the old nozzle. A new pump is rarely necessary.

Hi Roger,

Any idea what will be the turn around time for an overhaul? I dont have any fish in my tank now so I can do it now than later. Also any rough estimate as to how much the overhaul would cost? Being a student reefer an estimate ahead would be very helpful. My email is moonyguy@yahoo.com
Thanks for the help.

$25 in labor, $9.93 for a silencer, $7.85 for the improved hydrofoamer nozzle, $30.06 for the drive unit, that would be the usual things to replace/upgrade.

Hi Roger,

Thanks for the informatio. Where do i send the skimmer to? Any idea what would be a typical turn around time?
