Tunze 6255 Turbelle Stream

I recieved my big Tunze 6255,and wow does this thing move water! I got it hooked up to my 180 on one side. I'm on the lowest setting too. This is by far the most powerful powerhead I used so far. Just it alone is plenty for a 180-200 gallon tank IMO. Makes my Ecotech MP40s look weak..:lol2:

I picked up two for my 5ft 140gal build I've got going on. While they are definitely overkill, I'm hoping that they provided me the option to simulate daily thunderstorms and stir up the entire tank to export nutrients--envisioned a 5 min or so daily pulse on high and the rest of the time operating in the mid-range. The 6255 have Tunze's new technology to help lower energy usage based on how you use it. Overall it seemed like a win/win, and no matter how packed the tank gets, the pumps will provide enough flow.

Currently I'm using them to cook my dry rock in 2 50gal Rubbermaid stock tanks, and I can confirm that the flow is incredibly wide/turbulent.

I have the 6105 with the wide flow housing on my 120. It moves an incredible amount of water and reaches the full length of the tank despite the wide flow. On pulse mode it almost jumps out of the mount. I wouldn't worry about the noise levels on any of the tunze. I have several models and they have all been almost silent.

LOL.. Two on a 140..

Trust me there is NOTHING to have to hope for. Forget thunderstorms. You will be able to simulate a hurricane or typhoon in that tank!

I use two 6205's and one 6105 on my 480 Display which is 8' x 4' x2 ' tall and even without the 6105, I can stir the hell out of my tank. Also, both my 6205's are on the same 4' wall facing the opposite end of the tank. The 6105 is in the center of the tank on my overflow. I think you will be estonished with the flow you get from two 6255's!

How do you plan on controlling them? When I first set mine up, I had them running on a Tunze 7096 controller which I found to be limited so I switched them over to my Apex which gave me virtually unlimited variations of flow. I programmed in a flush cycle which kicks one pump on at 100% for 30 seconds one the others are off, then the next 6205 kicks on 100% while the other 6205 is off. It creates a flush cycle from one side of the tank to the other that blasts anything that settled on the bottom of the tank up into the water column and even stuff at the opposite side of the tank 8' from the Tunzes get stirred up. It litterally creates little tornados at the opposite end and it works like a charm. I can only imagine what you will get with two 6255's in your 140.

When you set them up, play with different locations. Logic would tell you to place them at opposite ends of the tank but having both on one end of my tank works great and creates amazing waves when pulsed at very short intervals.

Well I got 2 more 6255's on the way. It's going to be awesome for my 240 , one on each end. + Hooked up to the Tunze Turbelle Wavecontroller 7092. With that being said, man these powerheads are so much quieter compared to my Ecotech MP40s. D_mn Ecotechs sound like outboard motors..:mad2:

Im having a hard time keeping the water in a 48x30x20". I find myself wishing the tank was euro braced :eek1:

I cant get anywhere near full speed without just blowing water over the edge. its really a problem :sad2:

I have 2 setup @ the back outside corners pointed just shy of the opposed front corner.

these pumps really are amazing
