I'm not trying to be difficult here. I'm just frustrated that I've spent money on your product, and can't seem to get it to function. I would think that that's a pretty understandable frustration. I think the idea of making your manual more clear would be helpful to people like me who have spent hard earned money on your product. It's just a suggestion. Take it or leave it.
Perhaps it all made sense in your 2005 manual, but the one I have is dated 4/2007. On page 46 there are indeed pictures, but they show cleaning the skimmer. The page before that is about ozone connection, and the page after is about weekly servicing. As I'm sure you can imagine, none of that is particularly helpful in figuring out where in the manual it discusses this air hose, or how and where it should be connected.
In the manual, I have, "Operation in a cabinet filter - preparation" starts on p. 35. Perhaps I am wrong, but I was assuming this referred to in sump installation. That page doesn't seem to say anything about the air hose. Neither does the next page, "location in the cabinet." I don't see an air hose depicted in the pictures either. I only point this out because it should explain my frustration with the woefully inadequate manual. Even in the section "operation in the aquarium - preparation" or "location in the aquarium" I can't seem to find anything about the air hose. Maybe the sections on "operation" are the wrong places to look for installation instructions? But I don't see anything else in the table of contents that would suggest how to put this skimmer together or get it working properly.
I'll just go and tinker with this expensive box some more, and if I don't have any more luck tonight, perhaps someone, you or anyone else, can provide some helpful suggestions. If not, perhaps you can point me in the direction of a US number I can call for further assistance.
Thank you.
