I have the 9420 and it is constantly overflowing out the hole - is the different behaviour a design change/fine tune or is my skimmer not operating as expected? I also thought overflow was expected.
A slow trickle from the hole is normal, this is a relief for the anti overcoming chamber. If there is a lot of water exiting then the skimmer is submerged too deep or the stand pipe or sponges/ filter basket are too high.
This is what I have (please excuse the state of the skimmer - reducing Nitrate so there is a bit of slime and salt creep as my hands are in there to often:headwalls
Also Roger, is there any chance you have the foam pads on the outlet pipe still available? I know the skimmer has since been superseded, but my foam has started to deteriorate.
And lastly while I have your attention I am thinking of adding the second pump - can I still purchase the shorter pipe from either yourself or via AquaDepot?
That flow is a bit high but not completely out of line. I would try lowering the water level and giving the pipe a firm push.
The shorter stand pipe is still available. I don't ship to Australia but AquaDepot to Tunze.com are sources. The foam pads are no longer available, you could add the current filter basket or likely cut some foam to fit yourself.
Thanks Roger. Is the filter basket the one that fits a standard mesh sock? (Like on the 9410 but an appropriate size)? If so, is it a spare from the 9430?
i would cut 5mm off the pipe and see if that helps. i had to cut about 30mm off my pipe as i replaced the pump.
What model do you have? as how do you add a second pump
I added my neck cleaner back. working well, 2 days of skimming

I managed to get hold of a 9410.500 off a friend (he has a 9410 skimmer and isn't using this sock/collector).
It seems to have a (very) small step in the 50mm hole and I can't get it all the way onto the 50mm riser. The first part slips on until it hits the step - then it is really tight (read push it on).
Is this expected or is there a trick to making it fit on?
The video shows it working correctly, that is about the color skimmate I would expect. Yes, the basket fits tight, the pipe is shorter now on the 9415. For the 9410 a reducer bushing is inserted in it and that is removed for 9415 and 9430.
Thanks Roger. I measured the inside of the 9410.500 I have. The *larger* part measures 50.9mm, then it steps down to 49mm. Does that sound right? Do I just force it on?
I was reading the 9410 manual (as it's a 9410 part) and under the section of making the skimmer more silent it suggests lowering the ring to just above the water line - it doesn't mention this on the 9415/30 manual.
On the 9410 the pipe goes completely through the adapter so you can move it up and down on the pipe, on the bigger models there is a hard stop at the top and it can't slide down the pipe.
