I read somewhere that these pumps can only be ran wet in fresh water systems. Is this true? I would love to use a 1073.090 as an in sump return. Thanks.
Sorry Steve. That night was a litttle overwhelming for me. First the drive from Sac to LA and then to come see your cube which only made me more jealous that you had all that nice equipment...
hehehehe, i think that pump is external use only bro. I was going to use it on my new setup but i decided to run 2 eheim 1262 for return instead. May i will use it to run my chiller and may be U.V sterilizer if i decided to use one.... It is a very good and powerful pump
The 1073.09 can be run submerged in fresh or saltwater, it was only the 1073.14 and 1073.16 that is freshwater submersible only and that was because it had aluminum parts (heat sink). I don't recommend it as a submerse pump though because it tends to be louder (vibrates against the glass) and it tends to add more heat this way.
Definitely, it is a much bigger pump. They are quiet for a 2200 gph pump but they definitely make noise and cannot be compared to a smaller mag drive pump.
