Tunze Nano thread

yea, im making it in school, 60 bucks worth of acrylic, funded by the calss' budget, im also going to build a canopy for my tank, also from free wood :-)

thank god my teacher loves reefs, he has a custom 40 acrylic in his room, and is starting to set up a 92 gallon corner

the fuge isnt exactly 24"24, its like slightley less, because i didnt glue acrylic right on the edges, ill router it smooth

tomorrow i need to finish sanding the sides so i can put the final big layer on, all the baffles are tight on it, but on the router some came out slightly shorter and longer, so i haev to hand sand it until its flat enough to get a watertight seal

ill take pics once it comes into my house, but so far i only have like 15 dollars into it,
10: used MJ 900
5: 1/2" bulkhead nad 90* hose bard

all i need is another 5 dollar 1" bulkhead for drain

this thing is SICK

i have a aquaclear 70 mod want to make something that is hob for my 50 i have no sumps i live in an apartment cant afford the spill damage

yea, i like the KISS method, no sumps, heck, im even running skimmerless, i just have lots of cheato and do weekly water changes

i have two skimmer a uv and cheato and weekly waterchanges im getting great polyp extension with one nano stream in a 50 gal two should be awsome

Well my 6025 has stoped humming. I might pre-order a 6045 and use another nanostream instread of another 6060.

the fuge should be done the same day the pump comes in, monday

i only need to glue up 1 more side and it should take 5 minutes, then i can go over the baffles, let it sit for 24 hours adn water test it tues-wed.

the onyl setback might be some snow for monday, hopefully the roads will be good for the UPS truck ;)

got the second one pointed them straight at eachothr and they actually canceled eacchoter out it was making some parts of the tank almost still, so i have them pointed different directions they are awsome my new one came with the intake grate

on to the hum/rattle when i first plugged it in no rattle then i removed it from the holder and held it in my hand while it ran this seems to put a lot of tourque on the propshaft and when i put it back on the the clip it rattled i remember my first one did the same thing my advice is dont take it out of the holder without turning it off that way there will be no correctiontime on the shaft hope this helps i do beleve if you allow them to run any tourque opposite the direction its spinning may bend the shaft
my tank looks awsome now i wont need any more flow till i get lots more rock and corals

Saw something about having to leave these on 15 mins minimum, why is that? Thanks, the answer might be posted elsewhere, but thought I might get a quicker answer here.

they break if you run them on shorter intervals than 15 mins at least that is what the manufacturer reccomends

The start up wears the drive unit, this can lead to the pump overheating. In theory a fifteen minute min should give a five year life.

Thanks, I'm going to order 2 units through MD on Monday. After reading through several threads on the new nanostream, it seems that parts might be missing and the holder clip breaks very easily. Anything been done to correct these?

The screen should come with all new ones, these just were not ready on the first batch and I wanted to get them out without further delay, we mail them to anyone who asks. As for the clips, just be careful removing the holder. It is really not that fragile, it is made of glass reinforced lexan. The tabs are thin and the packaging will be changed but probably not until next year, if you just take your time unpacking it it won't be an issue.

Neotekz, probably around 10 years, theory and real world are not always the same, in theory sand and debris don't get in the pump. Until these things have been on the market that long we only have calculations from accelerated wear tests.

to be honest, im not impressed so far

the flow is perfect, it blends well with the tank adn it is sleek, but its loud as hell, wven with the little plastic things its almost unberable, people have said they have slight rattling, but this isnt slight rattleing, i can hear vibrations from it in the other room...

theres a video fo it, you can hear the pump, there is no way ill be able to sleep with this, not sure if i just got a bad one or what, everybody else says what noise there is is very little, not a humming sound that can be heard in the next room over...

Give it a few days and if it isn't better get back to me. From what I saw in the video it is the same noise my pump made and that cleared itself in less than 3 days.
