Tunze Nano thread

really?

i thought this is extremely loud, maybe my ears are more sensitive, btu i could hear it in the next room over

if its not quiet enough to sleep with tonight ill just throw it in a 10 gallon in my basement for a few days

I had mine running on a 58 and the noise pretty well filled the small room it was in, the next day it was maybe half as bad and by 4 days in it was basically silent. It would be worth double checking that the front housing is on right and that the prop assembly pulls out easily and nothing is inside from packaging.
 
I must say that I got my Nanostream today and I love it. Vast inprovement over my Seio 620. I was worried after hearing about the rattling but mine is virtually silent. I am probably going to get another 6025 and maybe even a 6055 to complete the package or would that be too much flow for my 50g (36x18x18)?
 
that would not be too much i have two and still want a 6055 on a single controller
i think we have the same tank exept i dont have a sump so i dont know what kind of return pump you have deliboy
 
I have a SEN 900 return pump but the return is gentle since I have a T returning to my fuge section of my sump and 3 outputs into my tank.
 
yea man i am not afraid of the 6055 i will figure out how to pulse it just right so it wont blow sand they are so nice and flexible with mounting options
 
Im jus twondering, for the guys who had noise issues, is your nano quiet yet? I just got mine in last night and it's loud as hell If it did get quiet about how long does it take?
 
One thing to check, we have now got back two pumps for noise and on both of them the shaft was not attached, it was loose, it should be firmly attached in the bottom of the pump. This seems to be where the incurable noise comes from as well as backwards rotation. As long as the shaft is attached the noise should remedy itself.
 
Yes, they just pull open, it takes about 45 Newtons of force to open but just pull it open.
 
Just to add to the experience base...I recently received two 6025's and installed them in my new 90 gal tank. I run them continuously with no power switching. The first started silent and stayed that way. The second rattled for maybe 5 seconds until the impeller got going in the right direction. Since then its been silent as well. I'm very happy and am considering a 6045 or a 6055 to round out the circulation in my tank.

for that size a 6055 with a singlecontroller would be sweet i cant wait for my 6055 i am getting one from the first ones i can get i will then have two 6025 and a 6055 and dont think it will be a problem if it is ill take out one 6025 and build a custom 10g bare bottom sps nano
 
so I have an oceanic 30 gallon cube and am very interested in these.

I was thinking of getting two, one on each side of the back of the tank, and running them on timers so each runs for about 20 minutes at a time (not concurrently).

would that be just absolute overkill?

My substrate is a mix of special grade, crushed shells, coral, and tahitian moon sand (fairly coarse mostly) but is only an inch deep and both positions I have in mind would actually blow out over the rock work which I imagine would sap the strength of the current...

but I am not quite sold. :)

two would not be too much flow you could also get one 6055 if you can wait till january and run the 6055 on a tunze singlecontroller and use just one pump and have a much nicer wave effect than the 20 on 20 off routine
these things rock they are great to mount really well designed
 
I thought the 6055 was going to be 3 times as powerful as the 6025... that sounds like a sand storm waiting to happen.
 
you dont have to use 100% power and the extra flow can be directed at the surface of the water to help with gas exchange my advide would be to get two 6025s one 6055 i think the 6055 will be the real standout when it is released but you may never need 1400gph but you dont need to with the controller and the tunze singlecontroller is much cheaper than a controler from seio i think you should be ok with these in your cube im putting a 6055 and two 6025s in my 50 gal that is only 18 inches deep with a 3and a half inch sand bed i will most likely not use the full power of the 6055 but the changing flow will make my corals happy
 
hmm.. I am not convinced, I mean I have limited realestate, and while I am running a mini-artica chiller I don't want a heat issue either.

from what I have just finished reading:
6025 = 640 GPH
6055 = 1,000 to 5,000 GPH (Variable)

the three pump setup your describing is 2,280 GPH in a 20.5 x 18.5 x 21" space.

that sounds like a blender to me.

(My 120 cube was raging w/ 4200 GPH on an oceans motions!) 1/4th the tank at half the flow? I just cant picture it.

I think the 6025's are more inline w/ what I need and adding a 6055, no matter how nice, would be superfluous.
 
Hmm, actually I think you misread liters an hour, a 6055 does 1450gph at max flow, it is only about 2.5* a 6025.
