Tunze osmolator problem

I just bought my osmolator and am having a problem that I have not seen anyone else have yet. My Pump on and Level light are both illuminated at the same time and the pump does not shut off ..... the pump on light is constantly on even when the level light is illuminated.... The Too Low Level light never comes on either... and the only way the pump shuts off is if the Too High comes on... What should I do?? Thank You Tom

Thank you roger for taking care of my problem.
Just finished reinstalling it and I cant believe i lived without this piece of equipment for over a month. Best single purchase for my aquarium I ever made!

Thanks whetman!

Tom, this problem has only 3 culprits that come to mind.

1) The transformer is too weak, this is very unlikely unless the osmolator was bought used or was very old stock, if it has the small transformer that looks like an older cell phone charger, this shouldn't be the case.

2) The capacitor for the optic sensor is defective, a weak capacitor will cause what you describe, this is rare now but was a technical problem last summer as the manufacturer of the capacitor changed from foil and tarpaper to foil and plastic and for our application the plastic slowly bled too much current and didn't hold the charge properly.

3) The controller is near a strong magnetic field or is recieveing electrical interference if it is near a ballast, x-10 device or magnet cleaner/holder or very large pump.

Sorry to jump on this thread too. I am having a problem with my optic sensor as well (I think). I have soaked it in vinegar three times now and it will work for about a day and then it goes back to not sensing the drop in the water level.

Roger, can I send it in? I think I have had it for about a year now... Do I need to send in everything? The pump works fine.

Thanks,

Jason

Send it in-

Tunze USA, 305 Victor St, Austin, TX 78753

Include the controller, power supply and transformer.

Yes, but I probably wouldn't go to the expense. If you overnight it today, it will arrive Friday and I get to repairs the business day after they arrive in most circumstances, in all likelihood the much cheaper Priority Mail would arrive Monday if sent today since the postal service works Saturday.

Hi Roger, I just wanted to say THANK YOU for the excellent customer support! I just received my osmolator today and it is in better condition than when sent out, not only that it's working now, thanks for the missing pieces to make the bracket work correctly!

Tom,

Can you PM me your full name and address as it would have appeared on the shipping label so I can check into it?

Just need to add me to the list of thanks! Very quick turnaround. I forgot how great it is to have a top off system.

Thanks again for the great customer service.

Hi Roger,
I received mine back on Thursday and got it hooked up. I am using it on the magnetic holders. I am still having a problem with it. Now when it adds water it seams to addd to much and then the "too high " light and alarm goes off. Which happened the first time at 5 am. I removed some water and it stop for a few seconds them pump came on and put more water in till the alarm went off again. I just unplugged it at this point and went back to bed. The next day I adjusted the senser magnet a little and it was fine again for the whole day. Then today again the too high alarm keeps going off again. I have had to just unplug it again. Please help. What can I do to fix this problem. It is not by any other magnets either.
Thanks.
Amanda

If I recall this is in a fairly small tank? My guess would be that there is nothing wrong except with the magnet holders the two sensors are very close, in a small tank the normal overfill can be enough to trigger the float. The fix is simple, you just need to add a small valve to the end of the hose to restrict the flow so the water is added more slowly. A drip irrigation valve is ideal. You can also just insert a smaller piece of tubing into the end of the hose to restrict the flow.

Yes, it is a small tank, 34 gal solana. Thanks for the reply, I will try your suggestion.
