Tunze osmolator problem

Low means the reservoir ran empty, the pump ran for 10 minutes but complete top off never occurred because you ran out of water. Blinking green means the water level is correct but a momentary wave or disturbance is lowering the water below the tip of the sensor, but not for the 5 seconds required to trigger a top off.

I don't follow, blinking green does not mean anything is wrong, it just is the water is not in contact with the sensor, imagine a small ripple passing the sensor, it breaks contact (no light) and then come back into contact (green light). Unless contact with the sensor is broken for more than 5 seconds the yellow light and pump will not come on.

The only reset is for too low, when the pump runs more than 10 minutes and a fill is not registered and this is simply unplugging the controller and plugging it back in.

Great customer support i ordered my tunze osmolater 3155 w/magnet from brs yesterday i hope i dont have any problems if i do i will contact you roger... Happy holidays all.

high alarm

high alarm

The high alarm will not shut up. Brand new out of the box. Do you think the alarm is sounding due to water overfill from water in the line. I'm going to put something in the end of the line.

Here are the possibilities.

1) The float is raised, if the float is up from water raising the float, this is the cause. The float is what activates this alarm.

2) The float is installed incorrectly in the magnet holder. The post and black ring in the float should face up, they must be installed in the larger C shaped clip, the bottom of the two magnet holders (inside and outside) must line up. The float switch is a magnetic switch, stray magnetic fields will activate it. The large C clip is in a shielded position when the magnets are properly lined up.

3) The controller itself is near a magnet, it should be at least 1ft away from the magnet holder or any other magnet.

If it is the 1st cause and it is overfilling, any additional details you can provide on tank size and how the unit is installed will help me solve this.

Hey Roger,

I just installed last night. Everything went great. I am using it in my sump. I installed the sensor in one magnet and set it to the water level line. Then I used the other magnet to run the back up float. I placed that like 3"-4" up just for emergencies. I plugged it in and it firsted showed low for a second, then showed pump on and water folwed for a second or two, then it showed a steady green light at water level. When I woke up this morning it had pumped all of the water (3 Gallons) and the alarm was about to go off on the float? No bubbles in return chamber and it is a new set-up so no salt creep? Any ideas?

Are you pumping water to the sump or the display? If the sump how high is the output of the hose in relation to the hieght of the water is the resivior when full?

I am pumping into the sump. Same return chamber. There is 7" of water in my return chamber. The top off water is for now in a (3) gallon Kroger RO water jug. I would say the top of the water in the jug is 10" when the jug is full but I ran the fill line up the back of my stand to a access hole for plugs and then down to the sump. It is attached to the clamp that was provided and then the line is sitting 1" above the 7" water line? When it first turns on and then off when I first plug it in it stops flowing so I didnt think it was a syphon issue?

Im still having an issue where the control box shows both green and orange lights, fills to just the green, shuts the pump off, then all lights turn off. After a period of time it will repeat the process...It is running off my Apex. I have cleaned the eye with a microfiber towel but this has not helped. Do I have a bad control box? Anything I can do on my side to check?

Thanks

Cinder01 - Roger will be on shortly but if I am understanding and my math is right I do think it could be a siphon. The actual output of the hose needs to be higher than the water height in the container it is pulling from to rule that out.

96p993 - When you say "still" is there another thread you have been replying to or have you already been speaking to Roger? Where is the osmolator mounted? Is it near any ballasts, large pumps, or any other sources of magnetic fields?

I started a thread not realizing one already exists (search issue on my side)...The osmolator is in my sump on the return chamber (Trigger System E36)...The controller is near on the wall of my stand near my Apex EB8 and main control panel, and 2 Ecotech W/es control boxes...

This issue has not been going on for very long so I cant imagine its what is around it

If the end of the hose is 7" from the ground and the jug has 10" water, 3" of water will siphon after the pump stops, the flow can stop for a moment, but it will start siphoning, if the water reservoir is 10" you need to have the hose elevated to at least 10"

From your description it sounds like this is an older osmolator that worked for some time and started acting up recently? Can you give me more details on the age of the unit and what it is doing?

How would I know if its an older unit? The Power plug looks like its from a cell phone, Im using the magnet holder...

Lets say after my feed cycle is over...The unit will wait several minutes to allow everything to equalize, it will turn on (usually both orange and green lights come on), it will flow until the orange light shuts off, green light alone, then all lights shuts down. After several minutes it will do the exact same thing

I got it as a gift from my GF...My first guess would be about a year. I had it set up on my last tank for about 7 months..It sat for a short period of time while I set this tank up. My current has been running since Nov. My birthday is on the 10th of March and Im thinking that is when she got it, but just a guess

Roger

Sorry I ended up haveing (2) threads going with you and I just read your siphon info on this thread. I am thinking that if I run the fill hose up from the (3) gallon top off res. though the hole in the back of the stand and then keep running the hose up to the top of the inside of the stnd and just have it pour our from way above the sump will that prevent the siphon? The only thing is that it is going to pour out from like 2' from above the water line in the sump?

For ease of use I would recommend have the osmolator pump into the overflow on the display if it is a predrilled tank. That is how I did my 90 when I had it.
