tunze question ?

I finally call the end to maxi-jet and seio pumps. So I ordered some tunze stuff and will be arrive thursday.

I ordered:

4 x 6100
1 x multi controller
4 x tunze magnet

Anyways, I think I just order too much. I have a 180 gal tank.

My question is would 4 x 6100 produce too much water movement for my tank ? I also have a wavebox installed with .5-1" of wave.

Thank you for your help in advance.

oh wow haha... i have the 6000 on my 120 and i have to throttle it down to 20% and 40% otherwise it kicks up way too much sand.

What corals do you keep? What substrate do you have?

REEFER714 has that many on his 150 tank I think. You can always turn the flow down a bit =)

I have (2) 6100s on my 180 (mostly sps) and still want a lot more flow. I think that (4) strategically placed 6100s would be awesome for a SPS tank, although (4) 6100s would take up a lot of space. As far as sand getting kicked-up, that can be avoided by angling the flow towards the rockwork.

I used to run two tunze 6100, Panworld 100px-x 1200gph, iwaki MD40rlxt return 1200gph in my 150G 5x2x2. Now i set up my 240 cube 4x4x2 i am using 4 tunze 6200 and iwaki MD40RLXT. The same question with Jen (what corals do you keep?). If you mount your stream up higher, you shouldn't have any problem with kicking up sand. I also use fine sand in my tank.

I have about 3-4" of live sand with lot of rocks, tank is 180 ( 72" by 24" by 24" ) mainly lot of SPS and hammers / frogspawns / torchs and a few GSP.

Do you have center overflow or corner? You shouldn't have any problem with kicking up sand as long as you don't point the pump down too far. Good luck and enjoy that expensive product.

pick up my tank on friday. No pick yet. I am working on getting my stand through the window. I was gonna set it up in my garage but it doesn't look right. I am working on getting 4 tunze magnet or the sure grip.

Same here :)

My 6000 in my 120g does my aquascaping for me. I run it at like 25% or it carves a huge pit in my sand right in the middle of the tank.

If I had a 180, (only 60g more), I'd just add another 6000.

2 6000s should be fine for a 180g.

I hope you can return the other 2.

Also, the magnets seem to always be on backorder. I hope you get them soon enough.

Cheers
Josh
