there is a topic right now about zooplankton survival and how the zooplankton and larvae and removed via current excessively powerful skimming in the attempt to remove organics before breakdown etc etc etc.

is this where the tunze skimmers differ? are the doc's designed to spare zooplankton where other skimmers have been removing them all along?

Our older skimmers were plankton safe and the DOC Classic is plankton safe, the DOC Comline skimmers can be run either way. With the shutter door closed and run in in tank mode, the water recirculates inside and waste is removed slowly through the osmotic gradient. When used in in sump mode or with door fully open the skimmer will remove plankton.

What about something like the nano 9002 skimmers? Do they have these similar features?

Yes, the 9002 is also a recirculating skimmer.
