Tunze Wavebox 6206 VS. ???

Just setup a 57G illuminata w/ overflow in the back middle. I intend to keep mixed corals and some "finding nemo" characters in there., so optimum waves (or close enough) is what I am seeking. Little research is telling me, even if I place the wavebox in the back facing long ways, the placement of the overflow will not have a negative effect on the system. With the cost of the Tunze Wavebox 6206 and Controller 7092 (approx. $400), is there another system I should be looking at. Given price and expectations. Example (Hydor Wavemaker 2 and 2 adjustable pumps).

The Hydor system is not capable of producing a true wave, this requires a very rapid on and off and an electronic pump, the options to do this would be the Nano Wavebox, 2 6055 or 2 6095 and a 7092 or a pair of MP-10's.

Keep in mind that wave flow is never intended to be the sole source of flow, this type of flow alone is only suitable for a few types of corals, it lacks any direction, it is just like standing near the sure and the waves come in and any sand you kick up washes gently back and forth and more or less lands in the same place. You need a directional current as well to get the suspended matter to the filters. I think your best bet is either 2 6055 or 6095 and a 7092 and using pulse mode instead of wavemode and this will depend on intended inhabitants and tank size or the Nano Wavebox and a pair of 6025's.

The Nano Wavebox would work as best I can tell from the info you have provided, I would expect a 3/4" wave which would be sufficient but not recommended as a sole source of flow.

I could get a hold of a nano wavebox (6206) and a controller (6091). I think the controller is a discontinued product. Anyways, I understand the controller can handle a "master", in this case the wavebox. But the slot noted as "slave", can a controllable pump (6055) fit in there. Or even a 6025 just to add directional current.

Sorry for the confusion, just trying to understand the 6091 controller and its capabilities with the nano wavebox and additional slave.

Only a controllable electronic pump or another wavebox could be connected to the slave cable, this would rule out model 6025 which is not controllable, only 6055 and 6095 are controllable models of Nano Stream.

In this case any other pump connected would only serve to boost wave height, so a second 6206 would double the height and a 6055 would likely add only about a 1/4". It is not the most effective way to use such a pump and the ideal would be to use a 7096 to run both so the 6055 or 6095 was pulsing and creating directional flow, while the wavebox produced a waveflow. Alternatively, you could just use a couple 6025's on continuously in combination with the Nano Wavebox.

controller 6091 vs. 7091.
are there pros and cons? or same function if only 1 master pump?

A wavebox will only work with the 6091 or a 7092 or 7096 in wavemode. The newere 7092 and 7096 are a bit easier to set up due to the auto tune feature. A 7091 cannot run a wavebox, it would work for a 6055 in pulse mode. A 7092 can also do pulse mode but you have to choose between wave mode or pulse mode and cannot do both at the same time, a 7096 can do both on different channels at the same time.
