tunze wavebox in action

I would not go as far as saying that the wavebox would eliminate pumps and powerheads. You still need good circulation for filtration, by either your skimmer or your algae system, surface agitation etc...
It just add a new dimention of flow to your tank.

Picking mine up Monday next week (maybe tomorrow if I can get out of work in time) - pretty excited! I have 2 of the big streams already and may eliminate one depending on how the wavbox works out.

OK Dumb quistion of the day!

I think the idea is great.....the big box is ugly. Any thoughts on hiding the box or building false side panel etc to hide the box. My plan is for a 300-400 G reef but would prefer alll plumbing be out of sight......Any sugestions?

Well first off after about 2 months, the thing is so corraline encrusted you won't see it. If you want to see what I mean, this is my new setup, obviously still empty but the old wavebox is to the left the extension to the right:

That being said, It probably does work if you placed it in some sort of overflow type deal with only the outlet exposed.

I've seen somebody building a custom tank with enclosures for the Wavebox and some streams built into the overflow. I cannot recall who, perhaps Roger can.

Moonpod:

It looks to me like the extension is just another wave box? Is there a difference? I "assume" the top is is the intake and the bottom is the outlet....I also assume that the wave action is set up by turning on the stream pump and turning it off by way of the controler. Are there any othere parts which neet to be mounted other than the box and the controler?

On more question.....

What is your openion of the effectiveness of this equipment. It sounds like it is a real good idea.....however the best person to ask is somone that has one

The extension is a wavebox without the controller. You slave it to the master box. The top is not an intake. It allows the setuo to breathe. The boxes are not watertight. It creates a movment that is otherwise not reproducible. Very unique very nice IMO

Uhm, no not really. It's going way to slow to have a thread. Once I have some foundation work done and actually have some good pix to post I'll start a thread. For now if you want you can check my website. There was a thread on zeovit.com but it was more a comedy narrative by Dave B (o2manyfish) on the saga of installing the tank--it took 8 of us.
