Hallo, Mr Roger Vitko,
I am Italian reefer and,
I have a problem with pumps turbelle 7400/2. Every 20/30 days I have a deposit of calcium in the unit driver.
Do You know somethings in order which reason deposits the calcium in the pump?
The dosage of calcium in the tank happens by means of Kalkwasser and CACO3 reactor filled with ARM reactor media.
Sorry for my bad english.
Tank's in advance for your answer.

Can you tell me more about the levels of Calcium and KH you are maintaining? It is a simple reaction that is occuring. Inside a pump their is a higher temperature and a partial vacuum, this degasses CO2 and causes localized precipitation. The Turbelle pumps have very tight tolerances to control energy use. If you run reasonable levels of 400ppm and 12DKH you should not have these problems but if you are oversaturating the water this condition is guaranteed. We have made sure that the temperature inside the pump is the lowest of any pump on the market at .5C over ambient. Unfortuantely with such tight tolerances any precipitation is a problem. You may also consider a new drive unit if your pump is over a year old as last April we introduced a new drive unit that had better cooling capacity- prior to this model the internal temperature was 1.5C over ambient. If your pump is very old- 2-3 years you may want to send it to Tunze and request it be refinished as the bore diameter was enlarged by .3mm to further increase cooling flow about 2 years ago.

It is a two part problem, one is part of the limitations of the pump design and the pursuit of high energy efficiency, the other is the result of excessive levels of Calcium and KH which is happening in all your pumps but because of greater tolerances you are not noticing a problem.
