UCSB Santa Barbara NSW Natural Sea Water...

What a find!!!!

What a find!!!!

YOU mean I can just go and fill up buckets and pressto!!! I don't need to buy instant salt??? I can just fill up my tank with it???

Thats right, filll as many tanks or buckets as you like. I have been using it for some time now. Did you see the map, its very easy to find and use. Welcome to the central coast.

I made my fist trip to ucsb .it was easy to get to with the map. there is a reef center there down the road it is open on sat. try to make it there it is to get out of the city.

i just tested the water for phosphate and got a reading of 0.24ppm

has anyone else tested for phosphate? what was your reading?

Carl

No, but that would make sense, because I have a phosphate problem in my tank, and only use UCSB Water. I'm not up to par on Phosphates, and what's high or low. Where does .24 rate?

0.24 is the upper limit of tolerable according to Eric Borneman et al. zero or very close is best. a recent article in Coral magazine recommends <0.10ppm. mabey that is why my sps are not growing much and i have a lot of cyano or maybe it is all the heavy feeding i do.

my tank level was 0.42ppm in my 260.

i have a Hanna C200 meter.

my new tank that is filled only with UCSB NSW water tests the same.

has anyone else tested the water?

i will repeat this week.

Jose, my corals i got from you are doing ok, not a lot of growth but some.

time to bust out the GFO. now if i can only find it in the construction stuff.

Kalkwasser will also form an insoluble salt of calcium phosphate. time to start dosing Kalk again i guess.

Id like to know. Im going to send a sample to a friend and see what he comes up with... 0.24 is high... I have no algae but I run GFO and dose Prodibio...

NSW

NSW

What does the prodibio do, and which one? I have been using the NSW for about 6 months now, a little cyano at first, but definetly no phosphate problems. Nothing better than something free in this hobby.
