I think this was my 5th fight, better fight shorts :). Anyway, I was posting these on Youtube last night for a couple other buddies back home when this thread was posted so I figured I'd throw them up hear too.

I've been a huge UFC fan since the beginning back in 93. Rented the first couple on VHS and then convinced my dad to start buying the PPVs. When the PPVs got dropped in the late 90's we started ordering the tapes again.

Anyway, I started training in BJJ, wrestling, boxing, and Muy Thai about eight years ago and became really serious when I decided to start fighting about three years ago. MMA is the greatest individual sport on the planet, period, end of story.

I went to see the Penn/Sherk Fight Live when I was in Vegas teaching combatives to the Nevada National Guard. Do a search on "Modern Army Combatives System" great stuff. I instruct for our Regional Training Institute and coach and compete with our Combatives Team.

When I get back, I definitely want to get some SLASH Fight/Pizza Nights going.

Oh, and Randy will knockout Lesner in the 3rd. As old as he is, Randy's cardio is better, striking is much better, and he still has one thing Brock has failed to show, a willingness to learn. His last fight could have been finished multiple times if he was only willing to shy away from his wrestling for just a few seconds and set his hooks in once taking the back. Supposedly, Lesnar has had a BJJ coach from the start of his training and setting hooks is one of the first things any new BJJ student learns. As big as Brock is, he could have easily flattened Crazy Horse out and finished with those "kettle ball" hands of his. Honestly, that fight ****ed me off more than entertained.

Anderson Silva is really at the top of his game right now but I still like going back and watching Ryo Chonan "flying scissor sweep heel hook" him.

like i told you a while back nick every post you make you just get more bad a$$. i am glad to see you on here. i hope you are getting along well as can be over there. stay safe and thanks for doing it. i am just starting to watch this stuff i am starting to understand it. my friends got me into it it is a good time drinking a few beers and watching someone get the crap beat out of them.

Thanks Nathan,

I don't really do it to be a badass, I just really love the sport. There are some bad eggs but for the most part all the fighters and coaches are really cool. I've shared beers with many of the guys I've fought. I even had to fight one of my buddies on the team once as we beat everyone else in a tournament. A bit weird but we had no problem beating the hell out of each other, as its a sport we both love. I've trained all over the states when on work trips, and in general everyone I've trained with have been really welcoming.

If anyone is interested look up the War Room Mixed Martial Arts Academy in Wood River. Tell them Nick referred you ;)

Insert foot in mouth... now.

I still haven't seen the fight. Honestly, I've been so wrapped up I didn't realize it happened already and Lesnar won. I'm surprised with the outcome but that's MMA.

My slow internet finally finished downloading the fight. I thought it was a very technical fight on both parts, particularly in the wrestling department. I replayed the end over and over and couldn't see the shot that actually put Randy on his back, weird. Obviously, the huge size difference was the quantifying difference in the fight. I would have liked to see it go longer but Lesnar showed a great deal of improvement. I'd like to see him fight Fedor but not yet, I think he needs a couple more fights under his belt to make it a good matchup.

Sounds painful, but I guess I'll be the first to contest you if thats how we have to have a get-together organized... :) I used to get beat up pretty good by my friends with gloves on... but they know I can handle it bare hand too... The mouth guard is a true savor.

If I fight locally again when I get back I'll have to let you all know. Live shows are the best.

I'm too old and fat and out of shape to fight:lol: I sparred for a few years in Kajukenbo as a young lad though:D I can use it if I need it, but my condition is so bad it is pitiful:(

I think I posted my 4th and 5th fights, respectively. I think the first one got stopped a little early but who am I to argue, I got paid $500 for about 1 1/2 minutes worth of work. That is, if you don't count the grueling eight week train-up with the War Room boys work. The standup game isn't really my strong point but this guy was short and supposedly weak standing up but good on the ground. We worked on a lot of sprawling and timing knees for that fight and it worked just as planned. :) It was the first time I felt that I really stuck to the game plan in the cage and obviously I was really happy with the outcome.

The 2nd fight the guy was supposed to be a decent kick boxer, so I was surprised he tried to take me down, and just went with it. I actually popped his arm a bit. It hard to tell but he didn't tap right away so it was really his fault. Thankfully, his arm ended up being OK.

I've been working to get video from some of my more recent fight with the Army.

Im a fan by default. My girlfriends brother teaches Brazilian ji jitsu (however you spell it) and used to fight, her Dad was a Judo fighter for years in the Phillipenes and I wouldn't doubt for a second that he could take me at 71 (years old) even though I outweigh him by an easy 100 pounds.

I always fancied myself a street fighter (never had my as kicked one on one, growing up in Detroit anyway).. one drunken night I spared off with her brother... I was only sore for a month or so...

I'm sure others will have their own opinions, but... A bit of commentary if you don't mind...

Sometimes it's hard to know when to hit the bell. The first fight could have been called even earlier... you hit him really square, and he had no chance to recover because you were unrelenting. Total destruction.

The second fight I thought you stayed really tight on the take down. You could have had the arm bar even earlier, but he squirmed away somehow. Excellent.

The third fight, you almost had the arm bar early on. For a moment I really thought you were actually gonna hit him in the head. I'm not sure how you managed to keep that level of self control... Excellent as well.

Wish I had this level of energy for three minutes strait: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PY4np2VZ5Mo&feature=related
At about the two and a half minute mark this kid should have been totally annihilated.

well nick im always game for a fight night / slash pizza . I have gone back to the old days when it wasnt as techincal tank abbot and those guys just slugged it out until someoone dropped

UFC 94: Georges St. Pierre vs. B.J. Penn, MGM Grand Garden Arena, Las Vegas, PPV jan 17th i believe this should be a decent fight if penn trains properly

Nice video Mike,

We maybe looking at the Next Gina Carano :)

Before a bunch of parents get on here and start complaining about that video I just want to clarify a few things. What looks like two little kids beating the hell out of each other is really a well supervise and controlled contest. Honestly, the rules set in place make this sport even more safe than Peewee Football. Now, I wouldn't advocate full MMA rules for children but Pankration and BJJ rules (with slight modifications) work really well for kids to test there skills an build confidence in themselves. We teach MMA, grappling, and Kick Boxing to kids at the War Room. Honestly, the kids we have are some of the most disciplined, well mannered, respectful little guys and gals I've ever met. They have to be in order to train with us. In the end, as always, I think it all comes down to good parenting.
