Ultra Crocea Clam help

All,

I pick this clam up and I'm trying to keep him on the sand but he keeps turning sideways. Would he be ok? I wanted him to face up to get the most light.

What do you think, would he be ok, sideways on the sand?

Ultra Crocea Clam help

I am no expert, but I read that Crocea prefer rock to sand. They will burrow their foot into live rock. I am hoping to get one this weekend. Where is that one from?

I have have the clam for 5 days. I think it needed to acclimate to the lights for a week and then I could move to the rock work but was hopping to keep in in the sand.

But if it best for the clam to be up on the rock work, that is where he will go.

look at the photo you posted. the mantle around the in current syphon is retracted, look at the outer edges of the mantle, they are starting to curl upwards and inwards. you clam looks like it has pinched mantle. if you are running phosphate remover(iron based) remove it for now and start running lots of carbon. you may have to do a fresh water dip also

UPDATE

UPDATE

Clam is doing better but still not 100%. Should I do a FWD? Or keep and eye on him?

Thanks for the advice.

Added carbon, moved him a bit closer to the lights. My Calcium was on the low side, 380, but I'm back at 425. Did a water change. I never did a dip.

if your using GFO(Rowa phos, Phosban or any other iron based phosphate remover) i would remove it for now. i don't know how much carbon you have added but i would add more. i would also do a short FWD, 15min but no more then 20min. let us know how it go's
