Ok sorry my bad on that, guess I never realized. Honestly I am not trying to cause problems or make enemy's just making sure I understand things.

Nick can you further explain why you dont go to the auctions? What do you mean by pay the club to be able to sell your corals?

This is copied word for word from the trade thread for prop auctions....

Please use this thread to list items you have to trade at the auction. PROP requests that you dont sell corals in this thread unless you have reached the 15 item limit in the auction.

That is forcing us members to pay prop 10% of the first 15 corals we want to sell/trade If I am mistaken please explain ??

I always bring 15-20 frags to sell and generally spend 90% of the money I make on raffle items or buying frags in the auction and on my lunch but I haven't been back since this new rule ..

Not trying to argue with you Nick, but Ryan is up there auctioning your corals in a venue he organizes, using his time to bring in a tiny bit of cash to help bring more exotic corals to Arizona. The least you could do is be apart of the community and support it. If all you want to do is sell your corals at the events we work so hard to organize then so be it. We just ask for some help that's is all. By selling your corals in the PROP auctions and buying raffle tickets you help AZ FRAG, PROP, and everyone in those communities.

It's just a pain to put stuff in to the auction when 10% comes off the top( not opposed to this really) and then your coral sells for $10 on what could/should be at least a $30 bid for a $50-60 coral. I'm all for getting these pieces out to more people on the cheap but not bargain basement blowouts like I've seen on some of the auctions.( hopefully if I lost mine I could get a frag back). The problem lies in how many people show up and how many bring coral. Buyers vs sellers market. It seems that lately with the raffles that have been going on ( thank you by the way) that attendance has been up and may be worth entering stuff again.

Clubs usually make money from membership dues. Since FRAG doesn't have any I have always felt the 10% was how we have kept from having them.

Also I thought of another reason for a club forum and that's the ability to have sub-forums for topics, sponsors, classifieds etc. rather than just one running stream where it's pretty easy to get bumped down and completely off the home page.

On another note, I have a few quart bags worth of dragon's breath if anyone wants some macro. I don't think I will be able to stay long, so only message me if you will be there at the beginning. I have at least three bags, but I can wait-list anyone else.

Since this thread is way off track anyways....

First off I'm friends with all of you here so please don't take this the wrong way But Kirsten and I kept PROP alive almost by ourselves for about 4 years with little to no help from anyone, and little thanks from a majority of the community. So if I get a little crabby over a few of the remarks here you all can probably understand. Now PROP has a healthy group of hard working honest farmers that get very little benefit from what they do for the group. I have been a PROP farmer for about 8 years now. I have made many time and financial sacrifices for PROP and the good of this group. I realize that this will go unappreciated by some but other can see and appreciate the extra amount of time, money and risk the farmers take to bring in new high end corals for this group with the only upside being that they get to have the coral in their tank while they are growing it out.

I guess you can look at it like that. I guess we just disagree on the value that PROP brings to you. I think its a bit rude to show up to an event that someone else puts on and all their hard work brings in all the customers and you want to have access to those customers to sell your goods and not have to give anyone a cut. I can see your side and PROP's side but at the end of the day if PROP does not collect something then it would not have any money to buy corals and would have no need for an auction and then you would have no meeting to go sell at.

I'm sorry you feel this way. Not too sure what to say but its not a new rule. It's been 10% since before I was a PROP farmer. The only thing that has changed is our request that people don't show up and use our venue to sell their own goods auction after auction without supporting us. To me it's a you scratch my back I scratch your back, but PROP was the only one scratching. Again I understand where you are coming from but without collecting something it all falls apart. I could be wrong but I get the feeling that the overwhelming majority has no problem with the 10%. I could be wrong.

That is why PROP allows you to set the minimum bid, so your coral never sells for less than you feel comfortable. Is it really a pain to put something in the auction that sells for $10 and you have to pay $1? If you think this is a pain try reserving the room, starting the thread, making the list and posting that, setting up the room, running the auction, cashing everyone out, cleaning up the room. I realize corals sell for less than "what they should" sometimes, but corals also sell for way more "than they should" sometimes. Someone at the last auction paid $100 for 8-10P of some zoos of mine. I thought they were crazy but the market that day determines the value. If you don't like those prices set your minimum bid where you are comfortable or realize that your idea of market value is different than the group on hand that day.

Maybe prop should open their books?
PROP has nothing to hide and will be happy to open its books to anyone that wants to inquire.
Please PM me for this.

if you have nothing to hide, then post the accounting records publicly for the last calendar year.

How much money was made each auction, who that money went to, and what was it spent on?

wow, people must think there is some huge conspiracy with the small amount of funds made at the auctions. Frag must have a swiss account it gets funneled into or something.

Airing dirty laundry in public is poor form. I can't speak for, or against anyone here, but for the good of your organization and Reef Central, I'm going to close this thread and recommend that you guys take this discussion private.
